I'm really looking forward to that particular nerf.
Unknown2010-04-06 21:15:44
In a random blog I found in the wilds of the Internet, I recall someone writing of Lusternia and IRE games in general (paraphrasing from memory): "I think it's silly that, to advance in a warrior guild, you need to do research, memorize history, and write papers."
Apparently, this blogger didn't realize that, in many cultures, warriors studied philosophy, history, poetry, languages, song, dance, and goodness knows what else. I think Japanese samurai were the epitome of the warrior-poet, but case in point:
The mamluks (ca. 9-19th century A.D.), who began as enslaved non-Muslims, converted to Islam, and joined this warrior caste. They were given one of the finest educations available at the time, despite originally being essentially untouchable foreigners and infidels to begin with.

I too look forward to a nerf to Divinefire. My time-absorbing, difficult set up for saplocking will no longer be overdone by one command.

EDIT: Or, specifically, divinefire cures earache, which allows a person to become deaf and then leave.

That sounds a bit like a bug, to me...

Divinefire cures afflictions... how is that a bug?
Unless you're stating it should cure the attraction itself, but I thought it did. Hm.
Eventru2010-04-06 21:37:31
Well I'm not really going to fall into a debate over this, but it seems to be doubly powerful that divinefire allows you to be completely immune to a class while it is up - even the accepted 'means' to kill someone through divinefire (timed instakills and the like) won't work because of divinefire.
Who knows, though. Simply my opinion - I leave such decisions to Sior and Est.

Uh, they're completely immune to me with DFire up, my instakills all require wound buildup (or low mana), and it cures wounds (and mana). No timed instakills.
Same with Wiccans, and Druids.
The goal is to keep them from leaving via stuns / temporary afflictions until it wears off. Sometimes it works. That's how it is for almost every class except the very small handful blessed with a timed instakill that doesn't take prereqs.
That said, I too will let it go there; but that's just what DFire does with its affliction, health, mana, ego, and wound curing.

While this may or may not be a bug (see upthread), it's certainly not responsible for the incidents I'm thinking of (not all of which involve you), since there was no earwort-eating at all (unless as noted above it can be shrouded somehow), and in many of them, no divine fire either.
I do have specifics on one escape trick that bypasses p5, distort, entanglement, crucify, gravity, broken limbs, and in fact, everything but stun; but I'm not being specific because we're not supposed to talk about bugs. Plus my bug report has yet to be classified, so it's not officially a bug yet.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure DFire just cures the attraction once it ticks. The key part is "once it ticks" since it doesn't cure anything until the first tick, and that may be where he's seeing the discrepancy.

Last part of my epic quest turned into a ticket. I am only vaguely amused.

That may be, but for the ones that did that would be the explanation (earwort or no).

I would double check to make sure you didn't have obliviousness up or something that may stop you from seeing earwort, When I was in etherwilde the other day, you let me go huge amounts of time with earwort up before blanknoting me and I would eat it again as soon as earache dropped
Ayisdra2010-04-06 23:24:31
People should marry about of their families... How is Ayisdra suppose to expand the House Ysav'rai is no one marries out?

I don't have obliviousness up, I just suck. I'm just starting to get the knack of following combat spam (and I have a long, long way to go). I can generally never tell during the fight if someone slipped away because I screwed up, or because of a bug. It's only later going over the logs that I either do or don't find the explanation -- and about half the time, no explanation ever appears in those logs. (Divine fire explains only a handful of them.)

Alright, to kick things off, you begin the parade by marrying out of the Ysav'rais!
On another note, Nicholo's currently in Roark's Fulcrux, reading His principles...
*insert nosebleed emoticon here*
... They burst blood vessels faster than a group a TK monks...
Edit: But then Pectus just had to distract me by revealing the existence of thongs on Lusternia... *shakes fist*
Edit2: And now that I remember, I'm supposed to be here to Pray to Kalikai for books or better insight into Her teachings... But Roark's are interesting...

They might also have moved you, or been forced to move themselves (by something like treelife, rad or wisp - by and to either side!) and that could let them break the attraction. If you're ever out of the room with them, you can't rely on it still being up.
