Yeah, and then you wake up and find that no one could be bothered doing anything while you're asleep. So you're still stuck with another day's grind.

Shattered my dreams. Possibly literally.

Admin events that require you to get enemied to an area isn't cool.

Waiting for GMs is not a fun part of being reinducted into an org.

That's why I refused to get involved.

8 mobs in 8 different rooms in a hive compared to 1 mob sitting next to a super mob at the very bottom of the prison with gravity the whole way, is not cool either. <,<

I sent letters to all three guild leaders of a certain guild regarding enemy statuses. One week later, not a single reply. No tell, no letter, no message. Nada.

It's very frustrating.

I don't know if I was one of them, but personally I never notice when I get a letter until weeks later when I get a message about it decaying while I was offline.

I get so many letters, I forget to check all the vnums sometimes, as I just assume I've already read them.

A letter organizer of some sort would be nice; just something that displays the first five words of each letter in a list format. chin.gif

When I send someone a letter, I also send a follow-up message telling them I sent a letter.

Why not save the time and just send a message?

An excellent indication that a revamp of the letter system would be welcome, I should think.

I remember someone mentioning that messages don't allow for line breaks and such, so if you're sending something long-ish, letters are preferable to messages.

Sometimes formatting is required; in such cases, write a letter with paragraphs, and send a short message stating that it was done.

For me, two reasons: 1) if I need to send items, 2) if the situation dictates formality.

I know it'll sound like I'm blowing things way out of proportion, but... sometimes, Lusternia's family system's refusal to recognize "alternative lifestyles" like polyamory feels analogous to how it must feel when people aren't allowed to marry because of having the wrong combination of genders, races, ages, etc. in the real world. You get the same arguments made: "What difference does it make whether it's legally recognized? Just do your own thing." Which is true, if you don't mind both that you're denied the legal rights accorded to official marriage, and the public perception of the nature of your relationship as being "not real", both of which matter.

Why does Lusternia refuse to acknowledge this "alternative" lifestyle? For fear people will "game the system" to get Great House faster or something? Surely there must be a better way to prevent that than completely denying people recognition for a relationship that just doesn't happen to fit someone else's preconceptions of what kinds of relationships are "normal".

(I hope I don't seem like I'm trivializing the efforts of people in the real world who fight for rights for people to marry who haven't been allowed to marry in the past. I know this is just a game, and all that. I'm just trying to draw a parallel.)

Might it be because it's difficult to code? I dunno, I'm not sure how that works. It might be like the real world: there are some logistics that would be really difficult to work out.
Lendren2010-04-10 14:19:55
It'd very likely be hard to add to an existing system not designed with such things in mind (such as if you only have one "slot" for spouse), but it'd be pretty simple to include in a newly designed or redesigned system (such as if you have a separate record in a database for relationships, to implement a "many-to-many" in database terms). Still, I get the sense Estarra wouldn't allow it even if the oft-discussed revamp of the family system got implemented.

So send them again, or send them a hundred letters or something tongue.gif
