I'm detecting a pattern here. If I participate in an event, whether something as simple and fun, like slippers, or confusing scavenger hunts like this one, Rika wins. chin.gif Maybe I should not join so the rest of you have a chance!

But well done, Rika! And congrats to everyone else! Will anybody be posting the answers to the clues? Some of those were haaaard.

No, it's because Rika is a demigod. Everyone knows that. Nerf demigods.

It'll be epic if he finishes the second one and says, "Just need two more books, guys." It'll be like Jordan never left us.

Sanderson is actually pretty good at not dragging things on forever and ever (knock on wood). Elantris, for example, was excellent and - even better - self-contained.

I was looking forward to more keph and illie stuff, but got to say the end of this was rather depressing the way it turned out. ):

Zenobia told Serenwilde to go kill all of the illithoids trying to escape and Hallifax to stay and go do something else. Escort escorted to the place and HAY it's a village. And tells us to kill them all, while they send hallifax to start influencing the other. ):

And then it turns into Celest v Hallifax v Seren for one village, and Glom unopposed for the other.

I'd love to comment right now, but I'd get banned for it, so I'm holding my tongue for a few days while I calm down.

I was loving this event.

I also love that they opened new villages, one kephera and one illithoid. I love how they are expanding the kephera illithoid things.

I just thought that the event ended a little suddenly. I would have liked that the two areas were opened but the revolts didn't start right away. Or even have Ptoma pledge to Serenwilde and Ixthiaxa to Glomdoring considering that those two organisations did easily the majority of the work.

But still, VERY cool!

Also: I hope that Ptoma is uninfluenceable by Magnagora Glomdoring Gaudiguch, and Ithiaxa is uninfluenceable by Serenwilde Hallifax Celest.

This. Except with rage burning underneath.

That stinks - I'm surprised you wouldn't just have been given the village (seriously) given how many Serens have been working like house elves for the last 24 hours+ to get matrons or whatever your quest was.
Unknown2010-04-11 00:58:41
I spent 11 hours (today, not including yesterday) on that quest and it's a new village? Weird.

Giving then to Glom and Serenwilde and having them revolt later would have made so much more sense. Instead, the matrons suddenly disappear, and we're sent to go get shiny new village enemy statuses while Hallifax gets a head start, and Celest FINALLY shows up to help, by killing us all. And who knows what Mag is doing, but we were threatened with war from them for defending nurses as well. WHAT FUN.

I am too, actually.

Two points.

One, you could certainly have influenced Ixthiaxa instead of slaughtering everything.

Two, if you're going to continue the topic of there being new villages in anything resembling a conversation without breaching the forum rules and such, I'd suggest making a thread.

Having all the dreamers but 3 (I had 9 following me) poof on me for no bloody reason. This epic quest is out to make me cry today.

I know it'll sound like I'm blowing things way out of proportion, but... sometimes, Lusternia's family system's refusal to recognize "alternative lifestyles" like polyamory feels analogous to how it must feel when people aren't allowed to marry because of having the wrong combination of genders, races, ages, etc. in the real world. You get the same arguments made: "What difference does it make whether it's legally recognized? Just do your own thing." Which is true, if you don't mind both that you're denied the legal rights accorded to official marriage, and the public perception of the nature of your relationship as being "not real", both of which matter.

Why does Lusternia refuse to acknowledge this "alternative" lifestyle? For fear people will "game the system" to get Great House faster or something? Surely there must be a better way to prevent that than completely denying people recognition for a relationship that just doesn't happen to fit someone else's preconceptions of what kinds of relationships are "normal".

(I hope I don't seem like I'm trivializing the efforts of people in the real world who fight for rights for people to marry who haven't been allowed to marry in the past. I know this is just a game, and all that. I'm just trying to draw a parallel.)

I'd just like to point out one other detail in this. Say you have 3 wives and 2 husbands and you want to adopt a child, and happen to be standing in a room with all of you present. Who're counted as the parents for the family tree?

Require the confirmation of a second parent, just like bloodbonding does, rather than having both in the room at the time. Would make some things easier actually.

One possibility is that you'd become a child of the spousal-group, not some two-person subset of it. Another is that you'd simply add something to the command (FAMILY CONSIDER JANE WITH JILL) to specify who the other parent is. The best possibility is if you could do it either way, and also specify if the child is being adopted or being recognized as biologically your child (and in that case, adoptions can work however you like, while biological parentage requires a pair of people of appropriate genders and maybe even races), and with each person able to have recorded both their biological and adoptive parents (if they're different).

Don't really want to fan the flames, but sorry for my part in that. I logged in to chatter on the Dawn Brigade about a revolt, teleported in and people were already swinging.

You guys could have said something though. Saying anything IC or OOC about what you'd been through to get to that point would have been enough for me to go find something else to do.

I'm sad I didn't get to watch the end of the event. I worked hard too, even if I couldn't towards the end due to work. sad.gif

Fun with new villages though.
