Man, your novices have it easy. Our novices have to climb uphill barefoot in the snow both ways.
I agree, commune novices should have to go to Xion and Muud to complete the planar task.
Lendren2010-05-28 19:43:40
More seriously (than I hope Sylphas is being), people have been saying since collegia went in that the city planar quest needs a little tweak to make it more feasible without astral. (Back during nexus world conflicts, ours got as hard when our constructs were disabled, but that was only a temporary thing). What's odd, though, is all the other collegium quests were adjusted and most of them made simpler last winter, but the one that's the hardest (especially in cities) is the one that didn't get changed. Go figure.
Sylphas2010-05-28 19:44:37
The easiest way would be to include all four elemental planes for everyone, but that's already been shot down.
Unknown2010-05-28 20:19:50
Communes get Crumkindivia too, which is nice and easy to get to in a pinch.
Rika2010-05-28 20:23:42
Don't forget that only 2 out of 5 guilds in the established cities can actually use the nexus to get to the higher planes. Unless they go to the rift in Tolborolla, the only one they can really do without help is their Nexus World.

Astral might as well be Muud for a level 10 character. And as Lendren has pointed out, back when constructs could be disabled, it would've been arguably easier to reach Muud than Night/Moon/Astral for people in communes. That was really the worst part about that conflict system.
I'd like it if all the bubbles counted though. I have a bubblix for Xion so that would be pretty convenient. I'm sure others with 1 or 2 bubblixes that may not be the ones their collegium requires feel the same. I think the purpose of the planar task is to introduce people to the idea of planes, which are a fairly unique concept, as well as to teach people where to find the information (CGHELP files) that they can recall until they've got it committed to memory. I know I referred to CGHELP PLANAR and CGHELP GEOGRAPHY repeatedly for the first few weeks when I started, long after I had finished the collegium tasks. Lendren's not alone in making people do it themselves, if they have the instructions. I will take people to Night, since they usually can't get there on their own at that stage, and chaperone for Astral to make sure they're not walking into a death trap... but I won't do that for anyone who hasn't gotten all the points they can on their own, first.
Edit: The bit about city guilds not being able to use the nexus to reach elemental is why people have left the crystal meadows rifts alone, so any cities who are not using them as yet probably could be.

Alternatively, we just take our novices to the planes.

Today was a good day.
Edit: And talking to Akui made me really want that cross-guild pow-wow.

I've been online for an hour and I already regret logging in at this specific instance. I smelled some treason and now it is a gigantic fiasco.
Who'd have guessed we'd have a big fiasco about the concept or definition of treason in Gaudiguch, eh?

Your nose is broken. Just saying.
EDIT: And I can only guess that the IC banter turned against you if you ran to the forums that fast.

Perhaps I am tired, but I do not see how this response fits in with your signature's declared intent.

It doesn't.
I would normally back off with a prompting like that, but...you missed GT there. The reply was mild, I promise.

Mostly a 50/50 split, I just have a headache over a justifiably simple issue (to me, at least - maybe Lusternia's community just doesn't hold to same standards as Imperian or Aetolia when it comes to interacting on a friendly basis with city enemies). It has to do with Casilu's post, if that has much bearing for you.

When, by "city enemies," you mean relative lowbies in an opposed organization, then yes, Lusternia's community doesn't take kindly to a smite first, talk later approach.
Don't push this one. I've had one bear of a week, and my client's buffer isn't full. You don't want this to end with logs.

Yes I do.
Just not here because the men upstairs will get angry.
Rodngar2010-05-29 05:10:51
I wasn't aware that 'lowbie' was attributed to somebody in their 80s with more trans skills than me. Huh.
