I'm not about to let people pass just for showing up. If they clearly have no idea what they're talking about, it becomes an insult to those who actually put in an effort to just automatically pass them as well. I don't have high demands, I just want them to give the best possible explanation. That's what I'm talking about.
And since I can't find it, we really need a banana peel emote.

Good god, I had no idea guildranks were such serious business.

That's what we say about "winning" too.

But text-xp and deathsight are serious business!

Admittedly Butterfly is a 10 power "WTF? Is this a joke?" skill, but paradigmatics most certainly does not suck nor is it lackluster.

Except when it works, when you just have to pause for a moment, lean back, smile, and marvel at what 10p just got you.

What sort of effects can Butterfly cause?
Xavius2010-07-04 02:32:46
I'm not aware of a comprehensive list, but it runs the gamut from truehealing your target to maggoting your target.

As far as I understand, just about any skill in the game. I describe Paradox as playing Craps. Butterfly is like playing Keno or the lotto.

They don't? Why not? I should start having Lucan talk to daddy like this. Just to be a pain.
No but seriously, can't stand people using smilies in tells. >< I just don't say anything to them because I'm too damn nice.

Ack. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just tired of those who don't have every cure at hand as it says they should. Not bringing antidote or phlegmatic or what-have-you to the examination is tiresome because it wastes so much time.
Usa did very well though, and it was fun to talk with him. I did get a feeling that you'd spent some time and thought on preparing yourself for the three theoretic tests, and that's something I'm very grateful for.

When I'm giving an exam to an Aeromancer, if they're missing a cure or two, I won't fail them just for that. I just tell them they need to go get it as soon as they can after the exam is over, and make sure that they do. It doesn't have to be a waste of time if you don't let it be. But maybe I'm just too lenient?

You are, I'm more of the opinion that if the scroll tells you to do something and you say you're ready then you had better have done everything the scroll tells you to, occasionally I'll just get a novice that says 'I'm ready! Oh! Oh! Drop whatever you're doing and help meeee!', so I'll walk over and say, 'ok, where's your written piece on blah blah blah' (Or, where are your curatives, or, how do you do this?), to which they respond with a very blank stare. Alright if it's ONE curative I'll tell them to go and get it and give them a small lecture on reading the scrolls fully and completely in future, if it's much more I'm more like 'No, you've failed, you can try again next weave. Get out of my sight.'
And that's why I'm not allowed near novices anymore
In all seriousness a lot of the novices I teach are very willing and not at all as bad as Kiras seem to be, hard luck, Kira.
Rika2010-07-04 11:58:19
I am pretty lenient with my exams, too. In fact, a lot of the time I just skip parts of it because I assume that if they came to me, they would know/have it. A lot of that stuff is really for their own good anyway.

My cut-off on the curatives is two for sure, and only two if I'm feeling nice and they are the sweetest little thing. I point out they are missing something, and they usually respond with something like "Oh my gosh I completely didn't realize I didn't have that!", so it would be kind of lame of me to fail them just for accidentally skipping over something. If they were like "Pssh, whatever. I just couldn't find it." I'd probably get irritated just tell them to go and get it before I would continue with their exam. But that's never happened (thank goodness!) It really goes on a case by case basis, heheh. I've only had a handful of people ever be missing curatives, anyway. Ain't no big deal to me.
