Important Caveat: If you pretend to be a time traveller, nobody will buy it. Trust me, I know firsthand.
Furien2010-07-07 04:34:21
I would totally believe that, just because it sounds fun to pretend (and isn't that all most RP is?)!

I think you only understand half the problem here. You're listing a bunch of methods for elaborating on existing information. We're trying to make that information exist to begin with. It's the kind of thing you can't BS quite as easily. The illuminati are honestly not that fleshed out (ha) so far - no supernals to give info, only one NPC who was a village leader for ages, etc. But there's a tonne of potential there. Monks don't have the same quantity to work with. All we are given about Bull is the name. THAT'S IT. I understand the onus is at least partly on us to make stuff up but once we've done that it has to go somewhere we can't take it on our own, which is why the efforts so far have been unsuccessful.

Look at the Nekotai. In the abstract Scorpion is only loosely related - I seem to remember Charune saying the Nekotai thing was tacked on at the end after the area had been developed. Even that much foundation is really useful and the aggressive marketing can come after that. Before that they were in the same crappy hole as the rest of us. See also: the Spiritsingers. Note that I don't want to understate the importance of the individuals involved here, like Lendren, who carried the guild on his back for quite a while - but it just takes more than that.

There's also the fact that shofangi is (almost) just afflictions, and harmony is a huge source of ARGH all on its own, to the extent that it almost seems like Estarra is trying to pretend it doesn't exist, recycling the name and putting Fusion in Paradigmatics, ha. The foundations are just not stable enough to build anything more than a sad-looking mud hut on.

I need more RP. I seem to get stuck just standing around at the Megalith with no one to talk to about anything. sad.gif Plus, my creative juices are running dry as far as what to do with my precious Geomancers.
Casilu2010-07-07 06:37:50
I wish I could code so I could code in the affliction shrug lines from Aeonics.

Every once in a while, I remind myself how much I hate being in a warrior guild. These days, I'm so tempted to just take the lesson hit and switch to another class/guild that is more than just the "military" branch of the organisation.

For what it's worth, I semi-regret my decision to take Lucan out of the Templars. sad.gif I felt really guilty leaving in the first place, though not because of the lesson loss. sleep.gif

Getting out of Celestian politics...only to be pulled into Celestian Politics...again... I must be a masochist.

When you've been in the same class for almost four years and have had to endure the same type of guild RP (ie none really) while hearing about other people having a great time in their guilds, it makes you stop caring about feeling guilty and what-not.

It might not seem like it now, but that's the way it was with every guild. I watched the Celestines write what the Supernals believe. Most of it is not taken from the mouths of the Supernals. In fact, some of it wasn't even meant to become canon. You know who first said that Raziela believes that the merciful choice was to kill the tainted? Not Raziela. Not Elohora. Amaru. Amaru didn't even mean it. Amaru said it tongue in cheek to mock a vocal pacifist. It stuck anyways.

Hajamin came up with that, actually, but yeah, it was sort of invented on the fly and everyone liked it so it stuck.

I agree with Rika so much!

Sentinels also got containment of temporal anomalies and the responsibility of being the internal police in terms of watching Aeros and Institute when they perform any dangerous experiments. That's a pretty cool thing right there that is totally outside of being the "military" branch of the organization. Your choice on if you want to take advantage of it or not.

But who watches the watchers?

So basically, unless we have an admin doing events for us on a regular basis, we have nothing.

(it's stuck in my head)
Ushaara2010-07-07 12:56:50
Umm, bit disheartening to hear that... I posted what I am hoping to do in a different thread (title of which I've already forgotten, something about advancement systems) which would hopefully allow us to not be dependent on events. Have you read that and still feel that way?

Learning messages for Harmony, please.

WTF? Do things in letters decay en-route? ohmy.gif

I sent Sotsepmet five backpacks filled with food, like 206 individual items (6 groups of 50, so actually 500 altogether), and only 45 of them arrived! die.gif

That sucks so hard! How are you supposed to deliver items to someone you rarely see if they decay on the way?????? Letters only hold five things! I can't buy 41 letters to send food I want Sotsepmet to sell for me.

The Marauder's Mask is really spiffy. I hope one of my characters gets one again next week! biggrin.gif
