I have this strange feeling that if my boyfriend ever started, he'd do something similar. Pick something like Hallifax (who is rawr, against Gaudi) or Celest (who for some reason, I just cannot stand at all!). Luckily, he has no interest!
After he told me about making his Merian ( Ongaku HATES Merian... no wait. He loves them. FOR DINNER!), I promptly informed him that if he ever happened to come close to Ongaku, I'd probably harass him. Good thing is that he's totally cool with that, because he knows I him so much OOC.

Wish there was a way to like, shift design slots from one cartel over to another. I'm kinda burnt out on cooking ideas (especially after the commodity inflation incident which absolutely neutered my custom tea designs and still haven't heard anything back from ) but have got the urge to pump out more and more Tailoring stuff lately. I dislike seeing opportunities slip by, but I still wish I can just move my Cooking slots to my Tailoring cartel.

After adding 43 private designs to Lunar Rose, I just don't design books that much anymore (and all the ones I do design, I add to the city cartel lately). I'd be moving designs from Lunar Rose to the ISCC in a heart beat if I could. There's always delicious things I can design for food. Also, Anisu pays for the ISCC
Edit - Oh my. I know why I stay at the matrix all day and design, instead of influencing things! I like shiny pretties, not the pain of heart attacks from influecing, even in a peaced place.

Two linked rants, though you'd think that, at least, they would counteract eachother. (They don't).
One- being the only forger in gaudi means,
Needynovice tells you, "Grand Mistress, do you have a moment?"
Always means, "I need weapons and armour and everyone|persons X,Y, and Z told me to find you."
Which is fine, except its several people an hour at times, and it starts to devour play time.
The second problem is that the commodity change requirement has made life pretty hard on knight novices. 400 commodities for a weapon set, + 250 for plate, + 70 for a helm =720 commodities, which is is a hefty sum for most novices.

I'm fairly certain most novice knights can get by without a a full set of armour, really. Not to say it's bad of you to go to that extent!

Except that its possible to hit level 60-70 in a day or two, which means they can't really get by for too long without it.

My problem is that once I complete one task, two more tasks appear to take its place. Here's a short list of tasks I need to complete, off the top off my head:
- transcribe theatrical script
- locate a second actor for play
- revamp/expand defenses and enchantments
- revamp and organize songs and offense
- improve/expand client macros, keybindings, etc. (Sisyphean task)
- describe aethermanse rooms
- create a bunch of custom designs
- submit abovementioned designs (easier said than done)
- organize and expand vial collection
- buy replacements for decaying items
- help novices (as necessary)
- perform services for commune
- distribute 2,000 lessons into skills
- check dozens of news posts (I've been on a month-long hiatus)
It's nice that I always have stuff to do, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it's... overwhelming.

Hate to tell you, but a lot of people are of the type that want to be able to get the things that make them effective. Junky weapons just... aren't very effective. And while they can build up money over time, the higher the cost the more intimidating it is (moreso than lessons, for some reason, I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's because of how many other things need gold when you're trying to start out).
The previous cost was high but attainable. Doubling it makes it pretty rough / a bit of a disincentive.

Fortunately, Estarra has acknowledged that the commodity system is still out of whack, even allowing that a full overhaul might (emphasis on "might") be necessary in the foreseeable future.
The Warrior archetype already has a reputation for being the most expensive initially (particularly for those who wish to become combatants), which as Xenthos said, is a bit of a disincentive. Even the price of mundane equipment can have an effect on that reputation.
