Hey now, some of us just ignore everyone else. Then we're happy, and we don't fade fast!

This is a remarkably familiar situation from Achaea...

Why is it you drag your dirty vagrant bum to Lusternia and then constantly compare us to your much better, way more fun, Achaean antics? WE JUST WANT TO LOVE YOU.

Enter at your own peril. 50/50 chance of death/enlightenment on the other side. Do you feel lucky?
Well, a bit late but apparently the key to enlightenment is having a rather private, comfortable fouyer.
Who would of thunk it

We don't get too much done, but that's the trade-off, I suppose!

Found out how to get to Mount Dio. Regretted discovery shortly thereafter. Initial two-garul pack that took me down to two-digit health grew to six garul.
Moderately traumatized. Would like description of garul at some point, only saw teeth and blood.

You know that grey bigfoot thing from Ski Free?
That's a garul.

Learning just to not talk at 3am, saves me a loooot of embarrassment!

On the contrary, those who avoid getting caught in the gears of the policy machine not only don't drive themselves crazy, they're also likely to accomplish far, far more. The policy machine can be used for almost nothing but bad, and all you can do in it is try to slow it down to reduce the damage it does until it chews you up. The only real way to do any good is by setting a good example. It's a lot of work, but it's fun work, it's not soul-destroying, and it's remarkably effective in the long run. (You just have to be prepared not to get much credit for all the good you're doing, because the more visible it is, the less effective it is.)

It'd be nice if the sender was at least notified that their message didn't get through, so they didn't just think that you were ignoring them.

Or if the one being told got a message saying they heard something on CT/tells but couldn't make out what it was.
This kind of annoyance is such a terrible usage for deafness.

I've never seen lipreading actually do anything good for anyone, either. I realize you can't really read lips over long distances, but does it even work in the same room?
Shiri2009-12-08 17:20:03
Yeah, which has the fantastic effect of making me think I'm not deaf when I actually am, so I don't get tipped off by the roomsilence and miss CT conversations later...

I've actually been trying to keep to myself and just do what I can in terms of defence etc. I do think it's not a bad idea to half-isolate yourself because then you don't get any expectations of others; you don't expect anything to be done unless you do it yourself.
I've avoided burn-out so far! And I hope I'm setting a good example.
Unknown2009-12-08 21:22:39
I think I'm a near perfect example of keeping to one's self (for the most part) and still making contributions. Being so isolationist and compartmentalized isn't exactly a good thing, either.
