Back to Common Grounds.

I don't know about the Cantors, but when it comes to Tahtetso, Yurika is the only GM I've spoken to (while GM) who has shown a remote interest to integrating Tahtetso into Celest. It's a common effort that requires the guild to actually do something.

And I know what you said Noola. But a guild like that can never survive in a strong religious city like Celest. Not the way the city is now at least.

I cared. No one just cared back.
Kiradawea2009-06-22 18:15:43
Right. As I said, it's a dual effort, requiring people from both sides.
Richter2009-06-22 18:16:58
Id run for GM or GA if I thought I'd be good at it, or that I could dedicate some time to it

Why not? What will it lose out on? They'd still be able to draw power - unless specific blocking rules were made just for the guild or something. They'd still have access to all the Planes - which they'd still be fighting to protect, btw, just for their own reasons. Maybe they'd have less influence on the Star Council... so what, their GM would still have the same vote weight as all the other GMs for stuff that requires it? Maybe they'd be less popular in the city... again, so what? They'll have strong friendships on the guild level.

I think it would be really interesting for a guild to shake off the "You're a member of your org first, and your guild is just a club you're in within the org" mentality all the other guilds in the game have.

Permission to be a part of the City? The council can easily pass a law that states that it is forbidden to be a member of guild X in a city if they want for some reason.

They could, but I doubt they would. Even if only for OOC reasons like the Admin would never let them. Besides, there are IC reasons as well. The monks (so much easier to spell laugh.gif ) would still be a force fighting for their City's interests - because those interests would likely coincide with guild interests. They'd still be bringing power to the nexus. Thinks like that, that the city would miss out on if they did that.

Anyway, it's idle speculation in any case. biggrin.gif Since I doubt anyone else but me thinks it's even a nifty idea for a guild to embrace being an outsider if you're treated like one and I'm certainly not in charge of the Taheto (only spelled right) guild.

But is having an extra force of arms opposed to your city's values worth the frustration, lethargy and dissent it encourages? wink.gif

I don't think I ever said the values would be opposed. When did I? In fact, in the previous post, I said the values would likely coincide with guild values.

Coincide =|= Opposed.

But anyway. Idle speculation. It doesn't matter one way or the other. We'll just have to agree to disagree on the viability and coolness factor of the idea. biggrin.gif
Kiradawea2009-06-22 18:38:12
You'd be surprised at the friction that can arise from that.

And idle speculation is fun. But maybe this isn't the medium we should use.

I personally like the RP of the Shofangi. Sure wish learning Shofangi actually had a script suspicious.gif

Write them! I bet we can get them in once someone does.

Ooo. What'd you get? (Trolling for things I don't have yet that I can "steal" from others. Hee.)

I like to compare with others as well, so I can know what all is possible. I got two upgrades for my crown, one of which is a script that fires off when I wear or remove it, showing magical effects. The other, far cooler ability is something I'd probably show you if you approached me in game or on MSN.

I discovered that I need a cosmic enchanter, and remembered that we're tradebanned from all three orgs.

I don't know if you guys talking about how awesome the Shofangi are are talking about the guild or not, because if you are that's really weird. We tried pretty hard at first to make it work but it's never really been the most awesome guild, since despite our efforts things like the reasons we're Seren at all are pretty flimsy (I'm rejecting out of hand Noola's idea that it would be cool to have a seperationist subdivision of an org on a permanent basis). That and a few things that are our fault, mind. We do have a few cool people though, so.

When this work lets up a bit I'm going to have another go at getting the guild integrated (although with harmony being as boring and useless as it is and only being able to make superficial changes to it I doubt it'll work completely) and I'll get the learn messages done then such that they have extra flavour. I got the format from Lendren a while ago so that shouldn't be too hard. Astraea gave me a good idea for the first bit so it's just a case of working out the details and then getting the leaders in one place to discuss it, then somehow getting it to actually happen. We'll see.

EDIT: that was slightly over 140 characters or words or whatever but I'll make myself a special exception suspicious.gif

I did. Even wrote it in the plots (I believe it was) so that the Admin could read it.

Maybe it wasn't good enough sad.gif

No one really seems to be enforcing the character limit, if that wasn't a joke in the first place.
