Some of the Bard and Monk guilds have nice, established roleplay, too, like GM Scorpion with the Nekotai, spirits with the Spiritsingers, the plagues of Cacophony, etc. etc.

I'll give you the first two, but when I had my Caco alt, they HATED the plague theme.

Alright, let's not degrade this into another conversation about deleting these guilds or deleting those guilds.
I'm fairly certain any suggestion involving that idea will be summarily ignored. We aren't planning to remove any guilds.
I'm also going to say, you guys should really give us some credit. Some of us have been at this a couple of years, whereas others have been at this for more than a decade.
I really think the people who make these decisions know what they're doing, know the state of the game etc, and are planning accordingly.
They wouldn't release anything they didn't believe Lusternia couldn't handle.
And, as the event's ongoing, let's not be too ahead of ourselves.

I'd like to thank the divine who worked on these places for so long, and who put up with the things we do without zapping us.
Maedra2009-12-20 19:14:57
Wonders why Lusternia decided to have some form of Twitter.
I sincerely hope this wouldn't be IG conversation/tweets. If so, I'll fix it now:
Maedra is looking for someone to interact with as her social circle is close to being non-exsistant.
Crap. I went over the tweet limit.

I actually think spreading the playerbase out would help the game in general. Especially as there have been complaints about too much raiding and whatnot. Seems to me that if all the cities/communes had more even numbers we wouldn't have the problem of one org dominating the game.

Yeah, QFT. People complain and say we don't have enough people, but I've seen more comradery and general niceness from people since these places opened. People who are usually very insular are outgoing and working with others, people who usually grief are being friendly.

Well, we can wait for the empirical evidence to roll in now but I don't see why not. All the reasons orgs accrete huge clods of demi are just as prevalent with 6 as with 4.
EDIT: Which is not that I don't think it's about time we got new orgs for entirely unrelated reasons

Maybe you could have a certain person who has studied almost every kata style at some point teach Gaudiguch.
If they asked, I could make it all styles!
Kiradawea2009-12-20 20:19:17
I made three vortexes on four spots moved in the void. And now I'm happy I got the Gaudiguch and Hallifax honours when I did. Now to see if we can't make more logic and chaos essence. Or... red and white essence?

I think you're more likely to get people who feel unsuccessful in their current org (perhaps barring Talan -- that was bizarre) to move more readily than everyone else. Opening day Glomdoring was like sifting the game's recycle bin. A whole lot of people who thought they could make a name for themselves and hadn't yet realized that they lacked the mettle stepped up to the plate. Even the people who did finally make a name for themselves weren't particularly notable people on the outside.
EDIT: Right, forgot to tie that back into the "point." You're not going to get a rebalancing of talent in this. Hallifax and Gaudiguch will appear OP for about a week while Iasmos updates Treant, at which point they'll get kicked to the ground and griefed into compliance for all this talk of hating forests.

Joy to the world for joining elections. Yeah, we all know my luck with that.
Well, I had my reasons. Here's to hoping that I'll do a good job if I win. It's fun with events that throw politics into such a spin.

And, the roleplay tends to be more intensive when it is manageable between a handful of associated people, rather than two dozen vying to emote or say something important, rather than behaving in-character. Multiplying the orgs might be good, provided player who participate care enough to work with what they are given.

The flip side of that is that your roleplay is likely to get a face full of sap-flavored mechanics if you keep calling the people around you unworthy/incapable while unable to actually accomplish anything by your character's own mettle.
In game actions -> in game consequences
Kiradawea2009-12-21 01:50:23
Ain't it lovely how all who says they'll support you leave at earliest opportunity? Oh well. I'm used to loss.

I'm sadly aware of it. This is why I do not play Lusternia actively. When the event's over, I'll be on my way and everyone who would shovel the sap will go back to leveling up their avatars.

There are strong real life correlates to this. If your roleplay is to be powerful and persuasive while being neither powerful nor persuasive, ICA->ICC dictates a bit of a smack down. If, in real life, you act as though you are powerful and persuasive and try to throw your weight around those who are actually powerful or persuasive, you're likely in for a bit of a smack down.
You're a fairly intelligent male. You should have an intuitive sense of the social pecking order. Such things still exist in Lusternia!

That begs the question- is the role I play intentionally one of power and persuasion? Because, I could have sworn that my character was just a xenophobic desert-farer with a bit of sand in his pants for certain orgs and whatever non-human race brushed him the wrong way.
If I suffer any mechanical smack-downs from that, they will be in not soliciting responses from other players, in which case the 'equation' is:
ICA -> OOCC -> ICC
In reality, when you dislike someone, you might respond with words or body language. IC, it would follow to do the same thing using says and emotes. So long as I solicit that- that is, a response and contribution to my roleplay, I am content.
