Yay dying for the sake of exploration. Need to get my number one spot back.
Gleip2009-12-29 11:58:19
The main problem is I have no idea where to start, and since I'm not in the correct cliques, I'm not gonna have anyone tell me where to begin either. Meh, I'll figure it out.

Mostly dislike this clique stuff, but while it's frustrating, have you asked around? Gone around greeting npcs? I find quests hard, and I can be completely dense about them, but I've always been told that the way to go about things when lost is greet npcs til you learn something!

Good Luck. Oh and it's my spot.

...giggle at realising I have great grandkids I've never met or heard of. Sadface at them being in Glomdoring so likelihood of awesome family roleplay = slim.

Re: Epic Quests, New city power intake, etc.
If it makes you feel better Xenthos, I've spent the better part of my free time collecting power the old fashioned way, running in endless loops, and inbetween respawns helping to build the statue/whatever else for other people.
At the end of the day, the new cities have one guild a piece, and it is very prudent to make use of the momentum of newness before people wander off.
Now, if you want to talk about issues with power intake, the domoth system is still a lopsided feedback loop providing massive gobs of near free power used by the org to crank out even more people who can keep domoths.
Now that sounds like a more systemic problem that creates egregious balance issues between organizations on a larger scale.

I've tried that, but none have given me much help yet. Since the one responsible for the whole quest itself seems to be hart, and he's not very chatty... but as I said, I'll figure it out. I'm gonna get it eventually.
Razenth2009-12-29 23:57:10
Do you mean you can't talk to him at all? I remember speaking to White Hart before. Very eloquent for a deer.
Gleip2009-12-30 00:01:48
He doesn't respond to any of the keywords I can think of that's related to the quest, and greeting him just gives me a staredown.

You can't talk to him without the Golden Torc, and he doesn't tell you about the quest anyways.
Gleip2009-12-30 00:07:26
Hmm. I see. I didn't even know that, but that certainly saves me the time to test one theory. Thanks.
Gleip2009-12-30 00:13:01
Ack. I think I found the first clue. Maybe. Hopefully...
Eventru2009-12-30 00:16:02
When dealing with quests, one thing some people seem to forget (if they knew to begin with) is that even the most miniscule and seemingly unrelated of tasks is linked the greater whole. So many area quests consist of 'Go get me x! Bring me y! Do c puzzle!' people forget that sometimes, you might need to perform some minor tasks to even be invited to the major quest (or, more generally, you come to realize how your minor quests affect the greater whole).
One thing I always used to tell people who asked for help w/ quests on other MUDs was that every mother missing their child or little boy whining over a lost toy was somehow linked to the evil lich who's about to succeed in taking over the world.

So I do have to make the girland. Hmm... how to figure out that.
Actually, before I get too deep into this, do I need to ally myself with someone whom doesn't have awful charisma and nonexistant influence skills? (In other words, is there influencing needed to do the prophecy quest?)

You should find out yourself! Ask your mates, not the forums!

Well, well! All of my cynical predictions about the new cities seem to have come to pass. How unfortunate.

What, that they won't allow you to run roughshod over them and kill their denizens? That was a chancy prediction, but you got it.

Judging by the number I did kill, with the number of people I had chasing me... yeah, I think I came out well on top. But no, I was referring to how both organizations spillith over with the dregs and would-be leaders who couldn't pass muster in the others and are poisoning these with their incompetancy. It's no big deal for Gaudi with their insane skills and demigod transplants, but I predict that Hallifax will struggle with Glomdoring Syndrome for several years before being able to stand on its own.

Haha.
