When you want to be involved in some combat, being able to survive more than 30 seconds becomes really important. Low con plus high damage from probably the highest damage inflicting class in the game means, as has happened to me before, being taken out in two or three comboes.

Clearly, when the admin added a vast array of races with drastically varying stats to a game with a complex combat system, they wanted us to ignore all of it and pick what makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Well, as far as trolls go, I don't think I compare to like...Visaeris. That man has true talent.

I'm not even on that scale. I'm more like a low-level Noola-ite, at this point.

Some races will suck. It happens in every... game.. period. People will pick the things most efficient for their purposes within reason. End of story. E.g., I reincarnated into Lobo as a nekotai to help further my tankiness as I'm largely focused on bashing to 80+. I will likely buy a dagger to reincarnate to human once more 85+ for the exp bonus. God forbid I don't go Illithoid for RP purposes, woah is the basin?

I've RP'd in various formats for a long time and one thing I've noticed among IRE players is that a lot of them on the RP heavy side seem to take RP > Fun rather then Fun > RP side of things.

Deal with it?


The only particularly safe race all around is human. Always has been, basically. You can argue and min/max all you want about certain races for certain classes. But if we're going to whine, lets whine about how awesome and suited to do anything humans are without any penalties and need mad nerfing.

The most annoying thing about Merian sucking is that it's supposed to be Celest's trademark race, and you can't even play one if you want to do anything besides sit around and talk.

It's mostly Merian's elemental weaknesses that butcher the race on a whole. While Balance and Equilibrium were overhauled, it appears that when this so-called 'racial overhaul' occured, I've been told that they still kept the formulas for racial buffs/weaknesses the same. This allows for Merian to get utterly butchered by Warriors with element runes. If weaknesses were re-assessed, the race would be a whole lot more viable.

Racial differences DEFINITELY go past min/maxing and powergaming. It's not like MapleStory when people restart characters because of one misplaced stat. It can kill, completely alter your gaming experience, etc. And trolling about combatants is just as bad as trolling about RPers - aka don't do it. I had heard that Imperian forums were notorious for their trolls, but yeesh. And I love that picture, Nienla.

Merians used to be a good race. With that eq bonus and 18 int, a Merian aquamage could bash like a maniac.

It was clearly more than Celest deserved, and appropriate action was undertaken by my Divine agents.
