eventually it wouldn't be worth it. You could get more by buying the dingbat from someone and bashing for the gold.

I think diminishing returns would make sense.
After 10 corpsses, you need 2 to get 1 dingbat, then you need 3 then 4 etc.

That doesn't really help people who can only play a few hours a day, just hurts people who can play a lot.

It is impossible to make an event "balanced" where everyone has the same chance to get the same reward. It can't be done, no matter how you tweak it. If you can't hunt the toys and get a dingbat (I haven't gotten any), it's not the end of the world. Play the game because the game itself is fun, not because you get a silly reward.

I'd argue against that in an algorithmic sense, but that's neither here nor there.
Anyway, I'd have to agree with the masses on the whole "enjoying the event" issue. I've not killed a single toy, yet I'm still enjoying it from a RP sense. I got to see Adala's reaction when it was confirmed that they were stealing, the results of her getting rid of that thing were amusing. And so too did Mael get to suffer through Lyora's complaints at not getting one of her own. It added flavor to the world, even if you can't reap the rewards yourself. (Not that I wouldn't want a dingbat or several )

They just did a little run which was as fair as possible, individual toys in rooms along the roads. Easy enough for anyone 50+ to kill and spread out so people couldn't whore them. Say thank you guys
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hooray!
Much better, methinks. Especially the bit about them appearing alone -- a swarm of those things is incredibly deadly for just about anyone, but alone, I know several who killed their first toys. Including me.
Thank you, in-charge-people!

No.
You all killed them just before I logged on. No thanks for you!

Have a dingbat!
Lawliet2009-07-22 22:13:46
I am currently annoyed.
But no! You say! You have already ranted about the event to a degree, you cannot be annoyed no more!
Well you're wrong.
I'm not annoyed at the event now, but I finally find two toys and go about fighting them, Fania somehow finds out, tells the entire city where they are, everyone rushes in and I get no dingbats, I can buy nothing with the four I have.

Hey, at least you've -seen- an invasion. I can't login to lusternia for at least another six, six and a half hours. But I like hearing that the toys are being spread out a bit. Make them easier to find, make it easier for more people to actually have a part in the hunt. Yay .

I laughed pretty hard when we got attacked by facehuggers on Mucklemarsh, I love this event now.

In Aetherspace, nobody can hear you scream.

Hey, did you guys get to the part of the quest where you can hop in the cargo loader and beatdown the slivven queen?
Oh, wait. That was Sigourney Weaver. Nm.

You obviously had a hand in coding in the slivven, didn't you.

I can earnestly deny that. I find them very amusing, though. They certainly remind me of the xenomorphs, and that's one of my favourite movie series ever. Rarely do you see movies get better further into a series, but I sincerely felt they did (Well, Alien was great, Aliens was better, Alien III was just okay and Alien: Resurrection kicked some major ass.)

Stop being such a nerd or else I'll have to get Fain to give you a wedgie.

I remember seeing a clip of Aliens as a kid and it scares the crap out of me... I still have never seen any of those movies.

Ripley was a great character throughout the series, though she was straight up hot in the fourth one (I guess being part xenomorph queen helps with that, huh?).
Anyways, I'm done hijacking. <.<

Meh, I've had fun just enjoying being a part of the event. Even though I suppose if I wanted to whine I could as well.
E.g., The event posts mentioned a bunch of people that I guess just happened to be at the right place at the right time, when the things -in- the scrolls I had attempted to foreworn certain members of the Glomdoring long before it came to pass. Oh well?
But I think rather then spread them out, my problem has been I collected about 20 corpses during the initial bombardment of toys, only to happen upon a -super- clump of them and die, losing all of my corpses to some Mag player and have yet to see another one sense.
*vent*
That being said, I've enjoyed it immensely. I liked going to the new Aetherbubble and fidgeting around with things with Glomdoring. But again, we had -just- finished two village revolts and by the time we made it to the bubble Ilyarin and some others were already killing Yoftie. Bad timing and luck I'm having I guess.
