How could you forget, Daganev? You were my worthy adversary in that game. I'm crushed, absolutely crushed
Daganev2009-07-29 01:41:35
I didn't remember much of it, until I just looked it up now. But there were two competing cults. There was the army, the freedom fighters and the rogues. Each group was trying to convert the rogues to their side.
Arix2009-07-29 01:44:44
ANYWAY, pro-town cults are not implausible, and I believe Furien for now.

In the Sonic mafia, I was a pro-town cult leader, I have no problem believing it.
Aha, that was what I was remembering!
Aerotan2009-07-29 02:42:34
Ah, and I thought it was a good role, too. Alas.
@Dag: The protagonist/antagonist thing was referring to the source. Kind of like how von Karma in the Fanfic mafia turned out to be town, despite being an antagonist in AA:PW. All I was saying is that judging a role by the character's alignment may not be fully accurate. Or accurate at all.

Was hoping to do a longer post, but I'm pretty worn out and can't get myself to focus.
I'd be happy pressuring for more activity from Rika (for the early vote/few statements), TIMDN, Diamondais, and Ayisdra as the latter three have not seemed to contribute much substance yet at all.
I'm also having a hard time buying Furien's story, especially going from saying:

You could just accept I'm a pro-town cult/mason farm and save yourself a headache but everyone seems to be lacking wisdom in general on that part.
But, I'm happy he backed off from the rage QQ.

It's not even rage QQ, if you people want to back away and get a safe lynch for some reason, go ahead.

Hi.
Yeah, like Daganev says, I'm not around when many of you Americans are. And don't expect me to "speak up" at 12pm weekdays.
I'm a bit cautious of Furien ragequitting and then deciding not to. It just seems like a ploy to take some attention from himself.
This post worries me a bit:
Knowing my own role and the tarot I had, it just doesn't make sense why Ayisdra (who'd know his own role/tarot too) would need to make a comment like this. I dunno, maybe I'm just not thinking properly.

While we are not tarot cards, there had to be some reason why she had that picking system...perhaps the card represents the role (and its powers).

TIMDN/Solanis seemed the most lurkiest to me, from Daganev's summaries a few pages back, but Solanis seems to be around, so whatever. Rika's a bit lurky and aggro, but considering the aggro in general, I don't think she's all that suspicious-worthy. TIMDN has been posting a fair bit in other threads (just not much here), too. I don't think Othero's up to anything, really, since the whole SK thing is a valid fear/thought/opinion/emotion/feeling/idea to have. So on and so forth. Should also look at the people who have a high number of posts, but haven't actually posted much worth reading. That is, there have been some single-statement posts... some posts with just a Vote. I mean, it's easy enough to post 3 thoughts as 3 different posts, doesn't mean much other than pad your count. For example, Dugan's mostly been complaining about how it's day 1, with only 2 posts I can see worth writing (this and this). Not saying he's the only one, mind, just one that sticks out to me.
Goodness, I haven't been lurking. I just logged on now since I had to get through a load of school work this morning aaand we have different time zones. :/

The tower makes sense. The tower is supposed to be a card about downfall and ruin and that was the intentions of the White Rose, the downfall of Nazi Germany. Also remember that these are tarot cards and their meaning and connections can be twisted around twenty ways to sunday.
Now, I'm going to say we should lynch Furien because if I am reading that skill that it is a huge libility. A pamphlet will either be sent out to everyone, not just town but everyone. In other words scum will also be given this information. And if Furien goes to try and induct people there is a good chance scum will get inducted and kill furien or the information gets out to townies who can't play right and let it slip out that they are town with extra info and we start losing them to the mafia.
Vote:Furien

There's something called 'Masons' in mafiawiki, and although a lot of people have been calling Furien's 'group' a lot of things, I think the description of his group fits being a mason, although a 'special' one since Furien claims to have investigative powers. I think we should let Furien live for now since his abilities have a potential. I agree with Furien asking Watchers and Protectors protect him during the Night since the usefulness of his abilities (as he stated) increases further into the game.
QUOTE (Ayisdra @ Jul 29 2009, 07:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
the roles themselves don't really do much for mafia. Its more about powers that people have that should be a focus. Who has the most useful power to the town.
Are you suggesting that there should be a large-scale power claim? This sort of information, although helpful to town to an extent, is potentially dangerous since this is the type of information scums would want to go for as they'd be more interested in taking down townies who have potentially dangerous (to them) powers.
QUOTE (Xikue @ Jul 29 2009, 08:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Also, as a townie playing to win, sometimes facts need to be checked with the mod. I don't think there's anything wrong with Furien getting the facts straight.
From my experience in Fanfic Mafia, I agree with this. It's really bad when you mess up.

I think Ayisdra was implying that the cards could be basis for making hypotheses(i.e. let's try to ascertain whether this person is scummy or not based on the card he/she chose). That's just my interpretation, though.
Also, please don't think I'm lurking - my timezone's +8:00 gmt and I can only log-in/post during 10 pm local time here.

The power doesn't fit into the Mason role. She can only send a message to her group. It seems more like a pro-town cult or whatever that reporter role was.

Hmm, looking back at posts I do feel like Solanis might of been pushing us away from the idea of a SK. I didn't notice it at first but if you look I think it is there. Saying my comments didn't make sense even though they do if you think in the terms that we might have a SK, Then asking to be the first inducted into the pamplet cult, and then sort of acting dumb as to the SK's strategy when Dag suggested he might be one.

Oooh, nice.
Ok, I don't think solanis is trying to push us away from the idea, as that would be impossible. But I do think he is trying too hard to be "dumb" about it.
Sort of like the alfred e newman "What? Me worry?" line.
I'm going to go do some mafia game digging.

I also think the Furien topic has been vastly over reported (haha). Let's leave him until tomorrow when we can judge on further evidence. I still have no real scum vibes to report, but I'll admit I've only been half-heartedly reading today. I will try to give a more thorough readthrough when I get home tonight.
Daganev2009-07-29 17:15:20
Ok, I can't find any record of Solanis being a SK so it's plausible he really doesn't know. But I still think he is being blind to the SK idea on purpose.
