We've already agreed that we will be lynching him day 3/4 regardless.

Oh, that's a good point. SKs SHOULD be on his mind.
I've got a real strong feeling that Solanis is a SK at this point.
Zynna2009-07-29 17:53:47
I went back through the posts with Solanis, focusing on the SK-avoidance issue that's been raised.
This is the post that Solanis quoted when he made his response that I think was the basis for people talking about whether he was playing dumb about SKs.
To this, Solanis said:
To respond to another point raised by someone (can't remember who), Solanis asking to be inducted doesn't seem suspicious to me. He said:
But that doesn't seem scummy to me because he already stated before that he believed Furien It just sounded like he wants to be on the inside and get more information.
Going back to the main post above, Dag is the first to then raise the point of mafia vs. SKs:
Solanis then makes a statement about SKs:
Othero responds to Solanis' question and says:
Othero then brings up the idea of Solanis trying to push us away from the SK thing:
Dag thinks there might be something there and says:
Then there were the recent posts you can all read where Dag couldn't find a game where Solanis was SK, but Casilu says he's in a game where there have been 3 SKs already.
And here we are.
And having reviewed the posts, I just don't see it the basis for which people are accusing Solanis of trying to move our attention away from/play dumb about SKs. Those were the only two posts made about (or omitting) SKs, and it seems to me a large stretch to say those should be interpreted as Solanis trying to avoid/play dumb about SKs.
While it's true that mafia know who each other are and SK don't, it doesn't change his analysis of the 3 points much because if SK learns that someone is town, so long as they don't learn of town power roles, that probably helps us (in so much as SKs want to get rid of mafia first before vanilla townies). (That does raise the question of course of what happens if Furien tries to induct a SK instead of a town (lives) or mafia (dies).) And asking about SK's likely targets doesn't seem that suspicious either.
I'm not getting scum vibes from Solanis at this point.
We have one post where he only did an analysis with mafia and scum, but not SK, and the post where he asks about who SKs would target. I don't think

Now, I'm going to say we should lynch Furien because if I am reading that skill that it is a huge libility. A pamphlet will either be sent out to everyone, not just town but everyone. In other words scum will also be given this information. And if Furien goes to try and induct people there is a good chance scum will get inducted and kill furien or the information gets out to townies who can't play right and let it slip out that they are town with extra info and we start losing them to the mafia.

An attempt to stop lurking. I believe Furien, and the role can become useful as long as we don't get messed up with nightkills and stuff (which probably will happen but anyway).
This post's reasoning sucks.
1. Scum ALREADY KNOW who they are, they don't gain from the information that "this person" is town.
2. There is a good chance Furien might just target scum night one and die. I don't understand how that is a reason why we should lynch Furien. Why waste a lynch? No lynch would be better.
3. "Townies who can't play right": Well. If we lose them to mafia, we're not losing the skilled town players right? The people in Furien's group wouldn't out themselves unless Furien died anyway.

And I have some damning?? counter arguments.
1. The Mafia know who they are, but SKs don't.
2. agreed.
3. Again, this argument makes sense if you think of scum as "SK" and not "mafia"
Meaning, Othero has SK on his brain for some reason...
I'll remove my vote from solanis when he actually contributes for more than just 5 minutes
I'd like to be able to feel confident when I vote for the next person, and not keep going back and forth.

Othero responds to Solanis' question and says:
QUOTE (Othero @ Jul 28 2009, 07:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
In my mind a SK would want to take out mafia first so that they have less chances of being killed at night. It is a bit easier for a SK to hide in with the town and be one of them. Then they would want to take out town, though they would keep out a eye for town with night kills or investigative powers as being outed or killed at night would be the very end of their game. It is extremly tough to win as one but while they are around they can do a good deal of damage. We need to remember it is a extra night kill outside of the assumed mafia night kill.
Othero then brings up the idea of Solanis trying to push us away from the SK thing:

Saying my comments didn't make sense even though they do if you think in the terms that we might have a SK, Then asking to be the first inducted into the pamplet cult, and then sort of acting dumb as to the SK's strategy when Dag suggested he might be one.
Dag thinks there might be something there and says:

Zynna, your big long post, did it get cut off?
Daganev2009-07-29 18:01:39
Zynna, the key you are missing here is all of Solanis's posts before this point.
They have been informed and insightfull. He even wrote "An attempt to stop lurking".
Meaning, he has posted little, posting just enough to look helpful, but not posting enough to bring any attention to himself.
This is classic noob SK strategy.
Of the 5 or so lurkers, Solanis's lurking is different from everybody elses lurking.
With Othero's new point about SK avoidance, things just seemed to snap into place for me.

Solanis's entire argument is based on a scenario where mafia is the only scum.
If there is any other scum other than mafia, Solanis's arguments don't make much sense.
However, we know that there are likely 3 non mafia scum. So the only explanation that makes sense to me, is that Solanis has some reason to be diverting attention away from the non-mafia scum.
This alone could probably just be ignored and chalked up to him not thinking clearly, however in conjunction with his lurking and otherwise helpful/insightful posts, it's just too damning for me to ignore.
As Xavius was saying earlier, what is ocam's razor for why he would make this logical error.

You can go back and read them, I put them all in one page to make it easy to compare the different lurkers.
It's the content of the posts that are different.
All other lurkers seem to be not paying much attention / not having much to say.

Will need to think on that point some, though at first blush still not seeing much there.
I think he's been more active and given more input than some of the others that I'd like to focus on getting them speaking more too.
