I'm assuming I got roleblocked, don't pull out this 'you're being secretive again!' crap because you're failing to understand.
1. I wrote my pamphlet.
2. I went out to pass it to whoever would pass it to Xavius (an NPC, obviously), at this point my guard is down and if it's scum I die.
3. I made the pass safely and returned to safety.
4. Somehow the pamphlet did not make it to Xavius.
Make sense, now?

1. What part of that confirms that Xavius is town? That you didn't die when you were passing the pamphlet?
2. Does this mean that Xavius was recruited or not? Guessing not, since Xavius -seemed- clueless.

Yes, and he has not been successfully recruited, so he won't receive any messages I send to my group.

More for my clarification than anything else: you die when you try to recruit scum and, when you do, you send out a pamphlet to everyone the next day with who was scum/town?

I was hoping that was how it worked but no.
I do die when I recruit scum.
My 'pamphlet' ability is essentially a message I can either send to everyone in my group at night (IN ADDITION to inducting someone- I use this to let them know who else is in the group), OR, WITHOUT inducting someone, I can send an 'anonymous' (lulz) message to everyone in the game that appears during the morning.
Because nobody will easily know who I target in the event I end up dead one night, I've been asking for a watcher/tracker (which :S ) to keep an eye on me and, in the event of my death (and sequential revelation that I am in fact town), let the town know the scum I targetted.

So, two possibilities.
1. We lynch Furien, he comes up pro-town. This would confirm Xavius as town. Or not. Since he has denied being recruited, this would mean that Xavius could go 50/50. But then, why would someone deny being recruited when it would confirm their town-ness? That is, Xavius had a chance to confirm his being recruited even after Furien mentioned that a successful recruit means townie.
2. We lynch Furien, he comes up rogue. This would mean that Xavius could also be rogue, having been converted successfully and denying it to prevent being thrown in with Furien's lot.
Of course, there's the option of not lynching. But if whoever can watch Furien does so until he dies at night (trying to recruit scum), then we'll know at least 1/5 scum. A newbie question: if he's not pro-town, how long can we afford to let him live? That is, when does a cult usually get dangerous...?

You would have thought that any watcher we had would have done so last night.
Unknown2009-08-03 01:55:47
If it is a non-town aligned cult, it's already dangerous because it could snatch up power roles.
But this cult doesn't seem to have night-communication, from what I've read about it so far, so they shouldn't be able to coordinate efforts. It also looks like they'll only know Furien is in it. If this cult is town-aligned, it's pretty useful because we turn a tracker into an investigator while Furien sends out pamphlets, which also have information on them.

Right, but why would they bother outing themselves when I obviously did not die, and it turns out my culting of Xavius was unsuccessful? Not worth it at all.

It's hard to say when a cult gets dangerous becuase it depends on how many non-cult members die each night. We also don't know what the cult members count as when the leader dies. Does everyone turn back to town, or are they now thier own win condition?
Furien, it always seems to be a constant back and forth with you here.
Lyching me will be your biggest mistake ever, I mean, I'm a cop, I mean I'm a pro-town cult.
I didn't out who I target, it could of been any of 4 people, I mean, I target xavius who was only 1 of two people.
then xavius does the same thing. "I wasn't targeted, furien's guilty, I mean, I think furien's is innocent"
Then its, xavius is 100% town, I mean, I got roleblocked, I mean I don't know what xavius is.
Making a mistake one time is one thing, but to have this constant back and forth every day, over every topic is just enough allready.
How anyone can believe that you are actually pro-town at this point is just beyond me.

Often an anonymous cult wouldn't be able to talk to eachother at night, if someone is around who can "uncult" people.
Also, Xikue, why didn't you put your efforts on Rika instead of alergic?
Also, why didn't you speak up before to defend Solanis earlier?

Rika at least unvoted.
I had work, else I would have been going stop in all-caps and exclamation points.
And we would know the exact member count and who the members of the cult were if we had a tracker.
Unknown2009-08-03 02:11:54
I think Rika is more suspicious than AtS (hating on AtS despite voting -after- him, but blaming him for being eager to confirm Solanis), but even Rika isn't all that suspicious considering Arix was pretty random with his ability.

It's not a constant back-and-forth, you just fail to see how I'm essentially telling the truth every time.
Cop -> finds out information about others -> my power detects scum via my death or confirms their town alliance, maybe I should have said 'investigator' but that's irrelevant now.
I didn't out who I targetted, duh, I said I wasn't going to and that it was up to them. This whole second point is completely irrelevant- we had the issue with the mod, who confirmed that something happened, so I decided to say that yes, indeed, I did target Xavius (since I was confused in the first place due to him voting for me).
Xavius didn't get a message because the pamphlet never arrived, once again.
I DO KNOW WHO XAVIUS IS PLEASE START READING Xavius is 100% town. Something happened (I THEORIZE A ROLEBLOCK, ONCE AGAIN READ) that caused him to not get inducted, but since I didn't die at night it means Xavius is town.
Furien2009-08-03 02:15:33
Well, actually, let's say 95% town, since I die by recruiting 'scum'. We have 3 independents and apparently there's no SK as Casilu says, so Xavius isn't ENTIRELY out of the question, but he's probably a safe bet.

she unvoted, but then she revoted.
I understand you weren't there at the end, but I'm wondering about that 12 hour period where he just seemed to ignore the 6 votes on him at all.
Just a bit wierd is all.
re the tracker: Let's say that there was a tracker watching furien cult Xavius last night. Today we hear that he was blocked and xavius didn't actually go through. So our tracker would think xavius is part of the cult, and he may or may not be. So it turns out that we really don't learn anything from a tracker afterall.
And given that furien might not be town aligned, it's bad to assume that the roleblocker was scum.
The only way to know if Xavius is part of the cult or not at this point is to lynch Furien. If furien is telling the truth, then we can trust Xavius. But if Furien was lying then we have reason to believe that Xavius is as well.

Information that is only true in hindsight, is another way of saying that you gave information that was misleading initially. (lynch all liars philosophy)
This is also known as trying to fill in the holes in your story as conflicting information is given.
Granted you are doing a very good job at it, but I just don't see why someone who is pro-town would be stuck in this situation at all.
You also keep ignoring the fact that initially you said that lynching you would be "the worst mistake of our lives" (or something similiar) And it turns out that that isn't true at all.

We have a watcher/tracker on me in case I die, which will indicate scum. While it does add a pseudo second member to the second informed minority, it's not of any use until I die, and if you lynch me early you're not going to be able to take advantage of my power.
Yes a tracker would think that Xavius was part of the cult, up until today where I say 'wait, my pamphlet did not reach him, apparently', which the tracker would hopefully read.
And given that I might be town aligned, it's good to assume the roleblocker was scum, trying to get you people to lynch me and further stir the chaotic pot.

Gee, I wonder why someone who can find scum would try and keep some of their role information hush-hush.
And yes, I'm human and use hyperbole, what a shock! You're still going to lynch me far too early for my power to be of use, again.
