So, my combat skills are definitely mediocre at best. I don't have the system to bother trying to learn the details, but Desitrus' less than fluffy comments have been helpful.
As for the speculations, I should have had 18 strength, unless I forgot some defs. Those rapiers are 33/167/280 - I don't know what the standards are these days, but yeah. I also used the concentrated style, not lightning.

Then I can't really even fathom the problem. Some of your decisions were bad as far as combat progression as the group fight went on, but mainly what really sticks out is that he heals a double lunge with one application, which means you were doing less than 800 wounds. For reference, as an 18 str faeling I was doing about 1100+ with double crushes to masterworked plate armor.

What do you want us to say? You should be able to critically evaluate your own logs enough to know that Alacardael doesn't have his hood up or a shield on. Three hits to slit throat, non power attacks. Why do you post this stuff? You have to be able to assess your opponents before you can even begin to solicit advice. Two people spamming vines while you're already vined, using their tertiary skills once, not choking, using scourge once, and one aapek? Come on dude. You beheaded somebody with zero armor. Your pinlock wasn't even aimed at pinlocking, you just double rended and started hammering hack down, which proved retardedly effective because the guy doesn't have a shield on nor his hood up.
Fight a real combatant and post that log. That's how you get better, not slaughtering noncoms. I can't offer you any metastrategy help when three hack downs produces a slit throat. No one wants to see a log of me killing Korimbu in six hits. Remember, demigod != expert combatant.
Ilyarin2009-08-08 14:50:34
Okay, will do. Thanks! (Although I can't see how you can come to the conclusion that she didn't necessarily have her hood up, given that two lunges procced pinleg, which is the same wound state as slitthroat.)

You make it really hard not to respond aggressively. You don't see why someone comes to the conclusion that his head isn't armored when you get a slit throat in three non-power attacks on an area that is normally covered by trueshield. Legs are not covered and the robe automatically covers them. You don't see how someone comes to the conclusion that the hood isn't up when you land *SIX* non-power attacks to the head and generate a 3800 wound instakill with at least one -800 app, thus having to have generated 4600 wounds in six non-power hits? Do you really think the head was armored? Do you really think you do 1400 wounds per combo to someone with their hood up without power attacks? Do you realize the chance of beheading exactly at 3800 wounds is like 5-10% and in reality you probably had him at 4200+, making the actual grand total something like 5000? I'm being generous and assuming at least one head-salve app was not health. If both were, then that's another 800 wounds to add to the total.
I can see all that in about five seconds. It takes one second to hit "Home" and see Alac's description as not wielding a shield. Even if he had that athame shield runed, you sure as hell were hitting an unhooded head at that point. Lunges/crushes/assaults don't just penetrate stance/parry/rebound, they add a serious amount of wounding.

'He', not 'she'
And yes, I rarely have my hood up. For some reason my aurawarp+succumb+choke offensive didn't work because my 'a' key got stuck.
EDIT: Also, is that a bug? You killed me, but I see that you still couldn't cure because Bedevil was apparently still active.

Well, usually, auras dropped upon the healer's death. Normal auras, at least, like health/muscles/breaks. I'm not too sure on the offensive ones (aurawarp, bedevil).
Desitrus2009-08-08 15:26:32
Correct. It's an affliction on Ilyarin that is uncurable in your presence. Choke, on the other hand, is an affliction on you both that breaks if either of you die.

Vs. EQ loss.
Not really a combat log, just wondering how the eq loss stacked quite so massively. You can see at the start my eq loss for influencing is about 3.6 seconds. Then I just seem to be off-eq a whole lot of time.

Two of the afflictions passively given by spiritsingers include confusion and lethargy, each of which boost eq loss (by 100% and 50% respectively, IIRC). They also have a passive eq-loss song which benefits from this.
That's the line, I think. Also can do paralysis and ... what else?

That's eq loss too, I'm fairly sure.
