Those were the "reports of lag" that were clearly server-side during the event, so... if you were complaining about server-side-lag, that's what you were complaining about. (Well, they do occasionally do some other things which cause some server slowdown, but really-- the only lag Lusternia has control over is the lag that's actually caused by their box)
These were actual, visible, Lusternia-side lag spurts that killed people frequently (on and off of aetherships). These were the main "reports of lag" being given at the time because, well, they were so obvious and kept killing people.
