Mugwumps probably need loving, but there are no Spec Mugwumps. Nor are they as RP significant as Merian. That a Spec Race, what should be one of the most important races in the history of the Basin, is inferior to every other race is a problem, not only for balance sake but for story sake. Because of that, it's a little more important that Merian be made useable before Mugwumps.

/Disagree.

Ohyea Fix Orclach first, I don't think there is a Single player that plays Orclach.

Merians were overpowered at what point? Three years ago?

This thread will not die.

Merians do need something in addition to a relaxation or removal of the elemental weaknesses. Their inherent frailty was balanced by high damage output and fast eq recovery times before...so perhaps some change to increase their tankiness and damage output a bit so that it'd be in between how it was before and how it is now would be in order. Since they're already high in the int category, perhaps give them a racial ability that boosts magic-source damage by some amount...probably could even extend a lesser bonus to mugwumps at the same time. Perhaps a way to address the wet-paper-bag syndrome would be to have a toggleable ability that allows them to split damage in one pool into all three...with a bump in the overall damage. So if they would have taken 1k damage to health, it'd be turned into 500 health damage, 400 mana, and 400 ego instead and would only work on abilities that lower one pool at a time. The exact numbers could be jostled around for balance, of course.

That sounds relatively overpowered, considering the plethora of things that heal h/m/e.

Do Faelings get it too? happy.gif

Hmm..

Scroll...sparkleberry....I'm not thinking of anything else. And Faeling's don't really need loving, they're still viable in their Spec-Races. I think.

I'm just saying why fix Merians before you fix Mugwumps who got it in every way worse?

Because the Merian are a spec race whose specs are so bad that even the RP people can't use them.
Razenth2009-08-27 23:27:28
I tell my merians nubs to go influence till 80 as merian and then switch.

Yep, even I crumbled for the Human experiance buffs and reasonable health, gonna go back when I can, though.

Merian pride!

So, screw game balance and mechanic's and just fix what the cry babies beg for?

Fairly sure there are less mugwumps around because it's not a specialist class, as such it's less important, even if more broken.

Edit: Or even, if they were both fixed there would be more merian.

Uh, fixing Merian's IS addressing game balance and mechanics.
Nydekion2009-08-28 15:34:40
Well, faelings are playable as a race in their current incarnation. Merians and mugwumps really are not.
