No, that wasn't even to me at the time. I think it was to Iytha or someone else with a novice.

I know Iytha was asking for a novice to be permitted in the ethereal realms pretty much right after the whole Maeve tainting. Going to have to say that the time after a raid is generally not a good time to deal with that sort of thing, really.

Uh, it's always the right time to bring novices in to do their quests
Some new player isn't going to understand, "You may have to wait, we annexed Faethorn to Nil, and now the communes are fighting back so you can't do your planar quest right now, sorry".

Aaand that would be when Magnagora sends the novice on their way to do it alone. Again, by communicating on how to do so without an escort. I'm actually very sure a new player -will- understand the inopportune time of going into hostile territory their org has just raided. The commune newbs who've been getting crushed under the Magnagoran wave through ethereal will make it, and no doubt the Magnagoran novice will make it to.

Being a Shaddus fanboi aside, unless it's right in the middle of a raid that's kinda a piss poor attitude to take.
Even in the middle of a raid i wouldn't advocate that, it's just that in the thick of things regulating who is and who isn't a fair target can be a difficult distinction to expect people to make.

It doesn’t matter when it is. Novices should be given more respect. Whether it’s giving them a little bit of notice when there is a war on, or allowing a novice of an enemy city to complete their tasks. Oh, and taking novices on raids is really crap. Let’s make sure they never come back. People ignore the novices way too much. They stop playing, and it slows down improvements to the game.
I get really sick and tired of fighting being the end all and be all of everything here. I honestly like the fact that there is more conflict here than Achaea, but there has to be some sort of balance. I’m tired of losing people (meaning people leaving Celest, or the game entirely) because anyone who doesn’t fight is considered useless. Who do you think actually spends the time with the novices while everyone else is up their killing each other? I’m pretty tired of this event because of this. At this point I don’t even feel like logging on to Lusty anymore.

I've had two novices enemied to Celestia and one to the Celestines for being on Celestia as part of the collegium quests. One of them soon after suicided. Just sayin.

Yeah, we don't kill novices on their planar quest, and we don't send our novices alone. I've even went so far as escorting commune novices myself who are alone, just so they don't have to be worried about where to go, and what to do.

Pretty sure whoever suicided was probably an alt to cause trouble. I mean, come on. Who suicides because they are enemied to something?
As for the other novice, did they ask why they were enemied, and ask to be unenemied?

If anyone asks me to escort their newbie to Celestia/Water, I've always obliged. I've never known anyone to enemy for that - the one place I could see it potentially happening is if the person escorting the newbie is a raider and there's an attack going on -- then, it's probably best for the raider to send a tell to someone about needing assistance for the planar quest, and I'm sure someone will oblige. -- If you ask me in game, I will.

What wrong are you talking about, exactly? I'm sorry, there's just no way I'm going to see that right after a raid of the immensity that we were talking about commune members reaching out to help a city novice. Not only is that pretty piss poor rp, it's just unrealistic given that the communes had no idea what exactly was expected from them and were trying to pull things together.
I think you and Shaddus are under the impression that the game's novices are so entirely fragile that anything, even if it's as insignificant as putting off part of a quest will make them QQ. That's a possibility, certainly, but if someone is THAT willing to stop playing over a delay, what do you think is going to happen later on when they get ganked? Get stolen from? Have to suffer Eventru shouts? Get 125k power stolen from their nexus? Come on. Have faith in gamers. They'll manage.

The EXACT wrong i'm talking about is the one you mentioned about your poor novices being enemied to celest. That shouldn't have happened but it's hardly justification for anything. I'm all for telling a novie, gee we can't go to faethorn right now because there's a war going on right now but I would feel silly telling the novice sorry, the communes are butthurt over getting pwned and have decided to take it out on novices that pass through there.

Why not, it apparently makes them suicide. Anyway, we're derailing horribly.
Ok, so for those people who think 125k power from each forest nexus is too much, how much would be acceptable?
Consider: Raziela was bound unneccesarily for over 30 IG years (an IRL year). When Celest tried to approach the forests to find a way to unbind her because they don't kidnap/convert fae anyway, the forests grinned and nodded, while smirking behind Celest's back. Celest actually had to approach their archenemy for help, and before the enemy could agree or disagree with it, the forests banded together and attacked Celestia and Nil. They performed a ritual that not only sucked 25k power out of each nexus (2-3 times) but kept the nexus from using ANY sort of powers, including summoning guards. The forests walk in, kill the guards, and meld the place, which hits anyone even standing at their own nexus. The forests spend hours standing around killing anyone who decides to step off of their own nexus, and finally gets bored and leaves.
Now the counter quest, which was tried several times and failed, is finally finished. This pretty much severs (or at least, cuts slightly) the attachment each forest has to the "forest plane" which is part of the reason they are there. RP wise, I think that would be a pretty big power drain.
We won't even get into the fact that before this event, I worked my ass off to help Glomdoring defend itself when it was smaller and more emo. What did I get in return but stabbed in the back. /slitwrist

Several pages late here, but:
Dear Celest, (a.k.a. Kira)
Congratulations on getting the bindings removed from Raziela!
Generally speaking, humans are blind cattle. They see what they want to see and respond to whatever it is that they're seeing. I am proud to say that most people who have mains in the forests are reasonable. This thread started as a complaint about the numbers only. However, people are understandably quite upset at said numbers, and because people are cattle and thus easily led, people will pounce on any perceived slight, such as yours which is unrelated to the creation of this thread. When the perceived slight is very impassioned, arrogant, and self-righteous, one can expect the pounce to be harsher than usual.
Again, I am proud to say that most people with mains in a forest aren't childish, but there are still some who are. All it takes is one person to remind people that the forests are not beaten down, losing, or weakened, only inconvenienced. This inconvenienced and likely offended people, persuaded by OOC bad blood at the impassioned, arrogant, and self-righteous diatribe of one person at how the admin in fact should levy a disproportionate penalty because they dared to wrong the great and mighty city of Celest, might just remember that they have the power to team back up and bring the hurt to Celest in a way that would make you cry much harder than you were when this started. Limited as they are by the event, those few childish people in the forests might take to hurting Celest in ways outside the bounds of the event, such as making the entire game unsafe for you and your citymates. Unfortunately, the inconvenience of the event has not removed either party's ability to bring the burn.
While this can only be taken as a modest suggestion (I will not be doing this on Xavius--in fact, I'll probably be back on my Mag alt later today), you may consider mending fences damaged in the last few hours before you decide how you want to handle the situation as an org. It is unfortunate for you, but there are double standards in this regard. No one expects anything good to come out of a moron (see for illustration the difference between Americans' reactions to Bush and Obama), but people do expect things from those of at least average intelligence. It would be most unfortunate if the situation escalated.
Sincerely,
Xavius

Part of the problem is that Grace doesn't stop you from getting bansmashed by mobs. It protects you from players, yes, but not mobs (something I believe should be changed). Although, it's been some time since I've had a character with Grace of Innocence, so I might be wrong.
