Totally called that, the first time I tried her I was all 'hey, I'm playing a kepheran Moondancer.' <.<

Time to make Alianna put on a title. Kalas Alianna, Moon Queen.

And then make her motto be the name of her ultimate.

I do love when everyone negates him in any game past 25 minutes and the guy cries endlessly.

I love the noobs who didn't play DotA that haven't figured out how to deal with Magnus yet.

Magmus is still strong, he isnt really that counterable in endgame if its a decent magmus. He reverts to more of a support stunner/spammer. Notice in that video all the other aoe spamming that was going on? lol. Herpdederp portal key and 4800 health smile.gif

still an extremely easy hero to play with a high chance to get great k:d ratios

Problem with him is that he is not a strength carry. He's an early/midgame strength hero with no scaling.
Unknown2009-09-04 00:18:36
Thats why you build him into a tank for lategame through all the easy kills you get early/mid game.

Don't need to be a carry to be good smile.gif Anyway, my opinions on him are neutral. Personally I'd rather play Pestilence.

Pestilence's source hero scaled but he doesn't, sadly. The deal with magmus as a lategame tank is that any hero can be a lategame tank with a heart plus have their scaling. My personal favorite is when you tank build something like tort and just go permanent 300 aedps.

Psh Pestilence (or Slardar whatever you doters call it) scales brilliantly. He's one of the only heroes that can go toe-to-toe with madman lategame, which means alot tongue.gif
Shamarah2009-09-04 04:42:31
Hey kids, let's play some HoN together sometime!

Add me to your friends list and bug me to play a game with you if you see me online. My username is esoteric. What are yours?

PS. Yeah, Magmus is a strength caster and not a carry, he doesn't scale very well. (Well, okay, Behemoth is a strength caster who scales better, but you get my point.) You should play him as a ganker, like you'd play most int heroes.

friend meh
Shiri2009-09-04 05:18:03
Shiri, but I'm pretty bad at this...

Man, I want to give LOL a try but the crippling interface and client issues are just too much.
Unknown2009-09-04 05:33:56
booo play hon, its the better game.
Shiri2009-09-04 05:36:03
This last hit/deny thing seems to get bull censor.gif at higher levels of play though, from what I can see. And it is one incredibly slippery slope. I like the design choice of having the LOL characters have innates too.

Unfortunately HON is the only one with a usable interface and client so I guess I'm screwed either way...doh.gif

I thought that too starting out, being unfamiliar with dota. You get xp as long as your near the units, you dont have to last hit to get xp, just gold. If you are laning against some range, you dont have to risk your neck to get denies/last hits - only if you are comfortable with it or know you can pull it off. Also in the first few minutes, knowing and asking to switch lanes with a teammate can never hurt. Its a pretty good system once you familiarize yourself with it.

edit: Also keep in mind laning is only one stage of the game. Depending on your team and hero, you'll graduate to ganking/teamfights around level 11+ and then grabbing a lane or two and jungling on your downtime.
Shiri2009-09-04 05:56:56
Oh, I don't mean the system is censor.gif in general. It's "necessary" in a sense to keep you next to the mobs. The thing is it's essentially a really annoying dexterity test against competent people, which is only partially related to the way the rest of the game works, but it decides the fate of the game. If you screw up in the laning phase you're going to have that much harder a time later on because you'll be underlevelled due to all the denies and have no gold for items.

LOL seems to incorporate last hitting but not denying, making the dexterity test a whole bunch easier but still forcing you to stay near the mobs to get gold.
