Looking through the affliction line list-- trying to piecemeal my own curative system. Wondering-- does allheale cure heretic and infidel?
Llandros2009-08-03 14:51:51
No

Edit: although that would be pretty funny if it did. Hmm, should i just stip allheale or should i blow 1/3 my mana on focus spirit against a class that can kill people below half mana?

1/4

And Heretic and Infidel cost power, so with absolve sitting at 8 power, you should be fine unless you're facing a Demi.
Razenth2009-08-03 17:57:31
You don't heretic/infidel to prep for absolve; you use it to prep for Soulless or judgement. Actually, you don't use either of those to prep for Soulless or judgement. You use them to get to Inquisition, which you use to prep for Soulless and judgement. Heretic by itself can also be used as a general purpose afflictor, as long as you're also doing more than just spamming hangedman.

So then in my makeshift curing system... I send no curing response other than maybe an echo to let me know I am afflicted with either or?
Razenth2009-08-03 18:13:04
S'what I would do, if I could be afflicted by the inquisition chain.

Pretty much. It's really not worth it to try and cure it, most people just either run or try and afflict the person with powersap to slow them down. Meh.

If you get hit with Infidel, echo something about running around for a while, as it fades with time. If you're around long enough for them to hit you with Inquisition, you're screwed.
Razenth2009-08-03 19:16:45
Powersap hits mana, not power. And the poison that does sap power drains your reserves, not your active buffer. At least that's what the parasites do.

When running, you want to be able to not encounter me at all. If I catch you, I might spam inquistion in the hopes your aura opened up while I wasn't looking. Ideally, you move far enough away or to a place I can't get to for around 10 seconds after Infidel first hits you.

Powersap is also the affliction. The Celestine power and the affliction have the same name IIRC but do different things. And yes, if you sap all their reserves, they can't get power back to Inqui. tongue.gif

It's not foolproof, but it's worth a shot.

Investment affliction which drains mana is powersink.
Razenth2009-08-03 19:50:18
Whoops, my mistake then.
Arak2009-08-03 21:21:19
So how does the heretic/infidel/inquisition chain work? They apparently can't just use them one after the other I take it?

Cast the first, wait until you see a glow. Cast the second, wait until you see a glow and have enough power for Inquisition. Cast inquisition, done.

They can only be cast in small windows of time.

You end up needing like 12 power or some such, so your discipline needs to be high enough to regen power fast.

If you want to do it on the first glow, but I think there's more than one (two, maybe?) so you could do it on the next.

I've never had the skill so I'm not absolutely sure.

You pretty much need trans discipline.

You can wait for a second glow, but sometimes one never comes - it has a random factor to it. So if you are fighting someone who can focus spirit and you are trying to wait on a second glow because you don't have trans discipline, you could easily go through all of your power before getting a chance to use inquisition.

I've gotten inquisition off quite a bit in group combat, and only sometimes on one on one, I found it a good tool as a paladin. Long story short, it's passive afflictions, infidel is more passive afflictions plus minor damage and inquisition is yeah..the end.
