During a certain event I'm ashamed to say I pulled something similar. I felt like a retard/addict/tool but it was soooooo (not?) worth it. In one sense it is my greatest triumph because that day I earned 1000+ credits worth of artifacts but it came at the cost of my dignity and self-respect.

I only had 12 tickets, myself. I just got lucky. (I'm sharing the luck, though; I put half of my prize up as a bounty for the next playwright to produce something submission-worthy on our stage. Keeping the other half to make up the difference between where my bardic placed and where I thought it should have -- though that's not fair because a few months ago a bardic of mine got more reward than I thought it deserved, so I guess I am being a wee bit selfish.)
