Or learn to fight.

Most of us offer to spar without them and still win, can't blame everything on the artis. I even remember two demigod knights dueling and the one using an unarti'd greatsword instead of his katana beat the one with arti'd blades. Good times.
I don't blame it all on arties, I think Vathael was a good fighter before he bought them all. Obviously skilled players are skilled players regardless of their arties (I remember Ceren beating artied thoros on a regular basis). But before arties, a BC relies on skill and some solid afflictions. With arties, it's piles of damage at fast speeds with tiny, tiny windows where you aren't stunned/paralyzed/blacked out/ mangled/etc. Vathael can usually get three combos off on me before I'm actually able to do anything.
It's just different for warriors. Where everyone else can buff their damage, warriors can buff their speed, damage, and wounding (aka afflictions).
Hell, even Veyrzhul without a system is annoying because he can knockdown double tap twice and I'm at critical for an amputation. 0 effort involved there.

LIES. I get lucky to get two combos in and I have to chase balance for that. If you are mangled, well that's a different story. Gotta go for mangles and locks to keep people from running otherwise I can't hold anyone down.
Damadreas2009-08-09 20:42:53
Three combos might be an exaggeration, but you really can keep most people unable to even flinch for 2-3 rounds of your combos at a time. Basically the only reason I oothai you when trying to get away is it's the only effective method to stop the stun train long enough for me to run.

Hey, I'm always upset when my $8,000 worth of crap doesn't kill someone! (Clearly, I just need to become a demigod or ascendant.)
Share?

Heh, I'd hope having $600 weapons on a text game wouldn't be completely worthless.
600 dollars is all it takes to fully arty two weapons?
:censor: so that means I can fully arty my tahto for only 300?
Ohh game on.

Just something to note... you had 5 momentum and 0 affs built... pulled 1 combo that did 2 affs and could immediately insta. That right there is the issue with monks, you basically won because you GOT to 5 momentum (as severspine stops his offense after that).
And yes you entirely deserved to lose the fight, (which I assume you would know with so few forms).
And Demigod matters very very little as most combat ends due to instas, damage is far rarer and most people who do damage kills use scaling damage. And the increase from strength is minor as demi is +2, (which is like using enchancement in psymet). I killed demis before I was a demi, I kill demis after demis, and in the right situations I can die to non demis. Having +2 con does suprisingly little.

You're totally right that it was totally lucky this time, my forms were horrid and my choice of psymets was horrid as well.
I have since been experimenting with poison/affliction locks and have a few powerful 4 and 5 momentum attacks which tend to at least make people pause a moment.
I am starting to see the full potential of a Tahtetso monk where before I saw nothing but fail.
It's a work in progress.

Naw, would cost the same since you still have to put two runes of each type on it.
Damadreas2009-08-10 04:30:22
Anyone currently running around with Vernal level arti runes?
Wounding runes cannot be applied to Kata weapons.
I assume this means fully arti'ing a kata weapon would be cheaper.

I've got level three everything. So, that's what? 1,950 credits (since they reduced the costs), I think, for two one-handed weapons?

Really? Is that all? I thought it was way more than that. I'd still get a cubix before runing up my weapons.
Unknown2009-08-10 18:05:13
I agree, and so I did. Started with the cheap ol' bleeding runes (pre-upgrade option), though, just to make the weapons stay.
I think the previous cost was 3,150 credits. Was really nice to get that refund!

Vathael2009-08-10 19:00:03
heh, its not like you really even needed runes when you were champ cause you had the godmode champ helm.
Unknown2009-08-10 19:10:03
I miss it now. When the position is open again, I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and go for it.

Helm is barely 10's now, nothing like it was.
Vathael2009-08-10 19:46:17
yea heh, champ helm got nerfed a long time ago. its basically only good for a non-decay 90/90 helm now. which isnt really a bad thing! at least you know the warrior using it actually knows whats going on.

Vernal Knight - 600 credits
Vernal Champion - 600 credits
250 credits for elemental runes
125 for bleeding
That would still be 3,150, or am I missing something.

You're absolutely right! I only counted one each of the Vernals for some stupid reason. I blame involuntary sleep deprivation. Thanks for correcting my math.
(It was like 4,700 before the reductions then, right?)
