Simply add maybe a 5 year or so timout on Enemy Statuses? Enemies that are repeat offenders get refreshed, other people leave the org alone and are allowed to have their org Timeout.

If people wanted this as an option they could do it already.

In that case, why don't you pull up the list of enemies to Serenwilde and tell me how many of them you can remember the reason for. No one will remove a status if they're not sure what it's for, but no one wants to write things down and come up with a system for it because, why bother? If they just forget, they can just milk them for money later. Adding this in would be more fair.

Actually, since we keep records: about 90% of them.

EDIT: Pardon my delay, but just to COMPLETELY contradict your post I was approached a while ago about removing the Shofangi guild enemies we don't remember biggrin.gif

This would just be really annoying to have to constantly enemy everyone for every raid instead of just the few that aren't already enemied.

If it were implemented I would imagine it would just be an option.

I.E
ENEMY
is permanent

ENEMY FOR YEARS/MONTHS
is not

If you could extend the period of the enemy status, (using the second syntax would add time to an existing status) then the only thing I could think of that wouldn't work with this is people wanting to charge fines as well.

Though another operator? could be added to require a gold amount to lift the enemy status (required to be in the hands of the unenemy...er when the status is lifted and is transfered directly into the appropriate bank account). Which would actually be handy in those situations because then anyone with the priv could be allowed to lift enemy status but only leadership could waive fees and times.

The enemy list (or a new command) would likely need to be amended to show time left and the like, mobiles could be added to the chamber of justice rooms to take the fee if the org wished. (Guilds could probably find some spot in their home turf where this could happen)

Why was I enemied to the serenwilde?
@Shiri

Because of forum RP.

Celest also keeps records. I haven't looked at our project in some time, but I know when Jozan was handling it the thing was pretty up to date/accurate.
Ilyarin2009-08-10 10:03:41
Our project is woefully incomplete. Although yesterday I did have a look and consider just unenemying all the people who either never come around anymore, or aren't "obvious" enemies.
Unknown2009-08-10 14:36:29
Hmm, prolly fell apart when Jozan left/GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR started in the Basin, and basically everyone was an enemy, including some people in Celest. tongue.gif
Lendren2009-08-10 15:03:35
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?
Unknown2009-08-10 15:13:29
How about we extend this to mob orgs instead? Say, if you don't bother with killing any kephera or otherwise not harassing them for x number of years... they just decide you're not an enemy anymore and focus their attention on more pertinent "threats".

You wouldn't. You'd just have to mark a note to re-enemy them two months RL later.

That's the general thought behind my idea. It's also to make sure people don't give unreasonable punishments. Looking at Ilyarins post, and Glomdoring's woeful enemy status project(There's not even text in it), I belive Serenwilde is the exception to the rule.

No text? Is enemy status acted out with hand puppetry?
Daganev2009-08-10 16:17:19
I like this idea for villages/npc areas.

Not sure I like this idea for player run communities.

I like that idea, but in player-run cities and communes, it would just be more work for the leadership.
Zynna2009-08-10 16:57:52
I actually think the opposite. Not needed for mob areas because of influencing (though I do recognize about the kephera situation) but would be useful for player orgs. Let the leaders set a default time (that can be over ridden) doe those basic enemyings.
Alternatively, create a log automatically when someone is enemied that lists the reason and doesn't disappear after 6 days that can be searched by name. Then after changes in leadership/institutional knowledge new leaders can see what had occured.
Ixion2009-08-10 19:01:14
I dislike the idea all the way around. I like that it requires diplomacy to get unenemied. If a stubborn, egregiously headstrong or greedy leader is in your way you have to work for it or around it- like real life. A timer undermines the player control of their organization unless they have great diligence in re-enemying.

For denizens/areas, there are already two ways to get unenemied. We don't need a free third one.

Yeah, Serenwilde keeps a book with -everybody-. it's crazy.

Same with the SS! so, if you're enemied to the SS, talk to Eula about getting unenemied... I really want to drop our number below seven!

Or just keep these records yourself, like Serenwilde! Not that hard! put a rack with a few large books in your council chambers, with each page a different first letter- quick and easy!
