Ahoy there, I'm up.
Arix2009-08-28 16:29:26
Daganev's attack on Shiri makes me kinda suspicious. Going after someone for knowing the source material tells me he has something to hide that Shiri would pick up on, so I'm gonna VOTE: DAGANEV . Also, I see no problem with a nameclaim later on, but day one is not the time to do so.

Semi off topic - these Touhou games kinda look interesting any suggestions on which ones might be especially fun and where it might be possible to get them?
I'll PM you about this subject in a moment!
@Arix: I actually figured Daganev was going after me because he didn't understand Mokou's role in the canon (thought she was a rezzer or something, instead of just coming back to life herself.) Forgiveable mistake.
@Lorick: what? I'm not going after him because of roleplay. I'm going for him because he seems like a safe option. He's Mokou, who in the canon is immortal and has phoenix powers (and that's about it.) That's her in my avatar there, actually, Silferras did it for me. Anyway, given that, and his claim of having no powers, odds are he's lying, especially in this game. He isn't immediately obviously likely to have an investigative or healing power of any kind, though we can't guarantee roles match up perfectly. So if he's lying, he might be an SK, or a rival (dunno that he would out himself so fast in this scenario though, Othero's not dumb, so maybe not). If he's town or a survivor with limited rezzes or something we don't lose a lot.
It's a safe placeholder vote for day 1 since we're not coming up with a lot of info and a good place to start discussion, I think!
Incidentally, yuyuko bringing death isn't really that damning - she's kind of like the grim reaper, and very responsible about it. Also every single character in the series has been an enemy in the games at some point or other (including the protagonists on multiple occasions), so even if we have to make guesses about which group is likely to be scummy, general villain-ness is not a good criterion.

Morning all. Shiri's claim seem a tad off. For example, why should Othero be more suspicious in the roleplay sense when his role tends to be a more of a self serving resser compared to Llandros's I lead people to death roleplay. Basing the arguement on roleplay alone seems a tad odd for you Shiri.
It's not odd at all (for shiri atleast), he always does it when he is anti-town.
Shiri2009-08-28 16:42:55
Ok, I expected Daganev to back off when he realised his mistake, so the fact he's still trying that angle is dubious.
Unvote Vote: Daganev.

Othero admited that he has a rivalry... Why do you think he doesn't after saying that he does?
It might very well be true that in the canon he/she can only revive themselves, however in a Mafia game that sort of power can be translated into anything. And I certainly would not want to risk lynching a person who can bring back the dead in some form. Especially not on day 1.
Re Your massive name claim idea: Instead of a massive name claim, which is really stupid in this game. Why not just have a person duel after they claim, to confirm the claim? It makes much more sense, and doesn't open up our power(full) roles to the scum. Somehow, I think you knew that though.
Shiri2009-08-28 16:51:55
1st point: Wait, he admitted that as part of his power/role? Or just for flavour? I must have missed a post, let me check that.
2nd point is pretty dubious in general.
3rd point: I actually recommended that too. But we can only have 2 duels per day and if we do it wrong they screw up townies' actions. So a mass nameclaim later saves us a lot of time and death and makes suspicious/"safe"-seeming roles very easy to track down.

"And I do have a rivalry sort of thing but the way I'm looking at it I am better off having it out there as I am thinking my opposite is going to be scum."
You're right, he did say this, missed the post. This contradicts the "no power" thing...Othero, since if you have a rivalry your rival already knows who you are, is there any drawback to just giving us the details on that? Revealing Kaguya is likely to be a way riskier proposition though because she actually has more of the immortality elixir (which Shaddus probably got with that bunny...)

Being able to make the Hourai Elixir and send it to people completely at random seems rather questionable.
Shiri2009-08-28 17:05:52
I guess it also just be random poison Eirin sent because they hate Shaddus. So um, drink that at your own risk.
Kiradawea2009-08-28 18:31:09
Am I the only one who gets an Alice in Wonderland vibe from this? "Drink me" and all that.
Anyway, what I must say is that I'll be working night shifts the next two nights, so I won't be very active. I do want to stress though that using spellcards haphazardly will be pretty risky. Make em count.

Man I need Zynna to sum stuff up for me so I can make an informed decision, heh. Or a Zynna-like being.
If Othero has a rivalry, and he's already revealed who he is, chances are high that his rival knows to target Othero as soon as possible. Othero can possibly self-rez or can avoid a kill. I'm sort of lost after that. We know there is at least one scum role from the backstory, but any Touhou buffs know which other roles could be scummy? Like super-evil-characters-know-for-being-evil? Though even that doesn't help us much. Seems like if everyone just challenges everyone else at every opportunity so we can determine names for everyone, this game will end hilariously quick. ALSO: Chances of the backstory not having anything to do with actual powers?
Makes you think.
Think hard.

There are only really like 3 evil characters at most, and they're all completely unrelated to each other. It's not gonna work as a way to find mafia (unless we find Mima somehow.)
We can only challenge twice a day so we should probably run through the list ASAP, IDing two people at a time, and then mass nameclaim if we run out of time. We can do this on the two most suspicious people in a day (anyone not cooperating is probably begging for a lynching unless someone can figure out a compelling reason someone not being game-confirm-IDed is really important). Also I guess we have to watch out for Marisa because she steals other people's techniques a lot.

Oh, and I'm confident the backstory has at least something to do with actual powers in some instances, though naturally I can't guarantee that it's true across the board.
Furien2009-08-28 19:53:26
I have difficulty trying to restrain my urge from abducting people into the fandom.
So I will post this.
So I will post this.

Ok, I outed myself because I have a rivalry. The only way I can permenantly die is if me and my rival do a spell card fight. Now, if my rival is town I'm expecting them to either stay silent because they have another power or out themselves as a way to try and prove they are town. If they are scum then obviously they will kill me. I'm hoping they are town and I've given them somewhat of a way to out themselves.

Wasn't appreciated last time....
Though I'm not sure I can summarize yet given all the Touhou discussion that I'm still trying to get up to speed on.
Mokou and Kaguya are rivals, both immortals. I've gotten that much so far!
Not sure immortals would equal can't be killed in this game though. Doesn't it say that they can't permanently be kept dead so they be revived but not until after the game finished?

Just saw this after my last post. In that case I suppose it's harmless to vote for you to get confirmation of your townness.

I know at least that if I am killed during the day or night I will be reborn for the next morning.
