As the debate continues and the group comes dangerously close to agreeing on lynching Vendetta, Daganev focuses once more and time begins to slow... then slowly move in reverse, getting faster until...

Shortly before Dawn, the silence of the night is suddenly broken as an immense explosion echoes across the firmament, emanating from the north. The group quickly awakes and flies off over the lake in the direction of the echoing rumble.

Upon arriving on the opposite shore, the group is dismayed to see that the Scarlet Devil Mansion had been reduced to little more than a smouldering crater. The shock settles in as the group slowly realizes that Celina is nowhere to be found. Then, in the rubble of the mansion, a small hand is sighted reaching out from under a pile of stone. The group rushes over to try to help, only to find that they are far too late.

The corpse of Flandre Scarlet lies battered and broken in the ruins of the mansion, her form desiccated and drained of any color. Remilia drops to her knees, cradles her sister's head in her lap, and begins to sob quietly. Sakuya attempts to comfort her mistress, but her hand is shoved away as the Scarlet Devil throws her head back and screams in bloody rage, swearing vengeance against Mima for her deplorable deed...



As the group departs to return to the shrine, a spell card floats gently down from the sky and flares brightly for a moment before igniting and burning to a cinder that falls to the ground without being noticed...

A smoking crater is all that remains of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

The Gates of Hakugyokurou glow brightly high above the clouds.

A feeling of dread and tension hovers over the Human Village.

Eientei and the Bamboo Forest lie silent, except for the sounds of hopping rabbits.

As the group returns to the Shrine, they are surprised to see Shiri, previously thought deceased, waiting for them with a bright smile on his face. He is welcomed back warmly.

I thought last words only activate when you die?

They do, but we haven't seen Ripple of 495 years yet. (We did see Ran's Izuna whatever though.)

So perhaps they only work on a day kill or a lynch?

Anyway, now we can have Bali and Othero challenge each other while we wait on Xiran to get her act together and start cutting Reimu. I'm not confident the latter will reveal much though, so we might have to just kill her.

Incidentally, does anyone else but me remember Lorick talking about how his last word had to do with the day/night cycle, despite not knowing that at all?

Not that I recall. I looked back where it would make sense for something like that to be mentioned, but didn't see anything. Only this that caught my eye.



Which, the more often I read it, makes less and less sense.

I don't know what my last word does, no one knows, but I was operating under the assumption that if one followed the wording it would have something to do with such. Shiri, the longer this game goes on the more you seem to be reaching for instants that would paint me in a bad light.

Celina - Anyone consider perhaps it was Celina's last word that caused the destruction of the mansion, thus causing all the events and perhaps explaining how the mafia did not provoke twilight?

Ah, actually we do see Celina's last word, or at least something involving a spellcard.
