What do any of these have to do with curbing raiding? You're all not that stupid, I hope? If sparring, ffa's, or wargames would stop raiding, then they already would have. 1v1 Domoths? Who cares. A lot of these people raid just to get this right here, to get people crying on clans, forums, and IM's about how they're getting pounded. They love that part of it, not the combat. Not the challenge. Not anything but:

Well, think about it. People with high honour points aren't going to want to kill you if you're really low. If you're semi-decent, only the people on the high end are likely going to even pose much of a challenge... so, with a crop of newbie-harvesting you can keep yourself pretty safe.
Which is not really the intent of the idea, but given that the rewards being suggested there are really good, very few people are going to want to lose out on them to stop someone from taking their Dark Harvest.

I think if the griefers cared about honour we wouldn't be having this discussion. They'd probably laugh at their 0 honour and keep hitting newbs, as Desitrus pointed out, for the lulz.

In theory, you could have negative honor points that cause unwanted side effects. In reality, the system would be gamed as much as anything else like it.

Xavius's idea actually does address raiding. At least the part of raiding that people don't like.

I miss the small conflict quests that had a relatively minor impact, but that had lots of things to do (i.e. Raising Marylinth, the Ship of the Dead... these things don't do diddly anymore so nobody does them). Further, HZ/XI require leaders to start them, whereas the more minor ones just required enough interested people.

And another random idea: Put quests into place on the Prime plane that causes a major defender's bonus effect on the Ethereal/Elemental/Cosmic planes. That new Night Temple in Glom would be a great place to start something like this. The quest could be something along these lines:
-Gather 5 ritualists
-Give a feather to each ritualist
-Influence empower each ritualist
-Give them each 3 spiders and a wasp as casting ingredients.
-...??? other steps?
-All defenders on the outer planes get a serpent-like effect or a damage boost or something. Maybe even include activation of the Defender Exosuits. Or, you could even give the ritualists different ingredients to cause a different effect!
For example, 3 spiders and a wasp: Damage boost
3 zombies and a viper: Prismatic shield
5 bits of essence, a zombie, puppetmaster, and 2 bars of steel: Activate the Defender Exosuits
If this were the case though, the ritualists would need to have a fairly fast respawn rate (but not reset rate, so that they'd stay at the temple while you gathered ingredients).
Of course, this is only applicable to Glom since they're the only org with this temple thingie that I know of, but I'm sure it could be easily adapted for other orgs (such as using kinfolk in Celest to focus energy through the Star into the upper planes to aid defenders, a Blood Sacrifice of beggars along with proper ingredients and maybe under the ritualistic oversight of some nobles in Mag).
The benefits:
-Give the non-PVP people something useful to do during raids!
-Some sort of time limit on raids, too, since defenders will be at a major advantage once the Organization Defense Grid is activated, but the ODG can't be activated at the drop of a hat, thus giving raiders time to raid.
Quick edit: You could even add organizational artifacts to enhance these effects.

See, in my mind, combat between people of relatively similar skill is something to encourage. It gets more people involved and gives you practice against people of your rank. This is better than raiding Celestia once and having Talkan or whoever is filling that role these days roflstomp you while you watch the PurePwnageâ„¢ scroll across your screen.

THIS. Bring this back. This was the MAIN reason I stayed in Lusternia for more than a day or two, because from the very first day with no system, no cash, and no clue, I was able to participate in some small way in many conflicts.

Well the point isn't to bring them back in the old incarnation, because yes, they did get pushed to the point where some people were burning out. I'm of the opinion that this was also partly because the rewards for doing the org-centric quests just kept going up and up and up. Rewards on par with TBC are where it should be, as in minor annoyance, not HZ/XI 25k power level.
Regardless, my post was suggesting possibly retooling this quest idea towards giving defenders on Eth/Elemental/Cosmic bonuses during the raids that some people seem to prefer. I'd really like some comments on my earlier post detailing these bonus ideas, if you wouldn't mind looking at it.

Understandable and commendable. Could we at least get them completely nulled(have an event, move the mobs/items/etc that don't do anything else into storage for another time, etc) and work on getting more in, which are just as available as those old ones? Would be great.
