Just a thought...

If I want to regain the aether-willpower that I lost today, I'll have to sit around for a few hours before I can go aetherhunting again, so, for me at least, this system seems like it's encouraging me to sit AFK in my manse regaining aether-willpower.

The point for aetherwill is so you won't be able to hunt 24/7 so I see nothing wrong with having to sit out for awhile after pushing yourself to the limit. Note that aetherwill only affects aethercraft use so there's nothing preventing you from regular hunting or influencing or crafting or socializing or whatever else!

Note that the drain from flying has been dramatically reduced! I seriously doubt many would actually aetherbash to 0 aetherwill so you should still have enough to travel.

That's just silly.

Does the fact that quests reset only after a given amount of time encourage you to idle AFK in your manse? Does the one-submission-per-year rule with cartels encourage people to log in only once a year?

There's other stuff to do, you know, and those of us who do this 'other stuff' would love for more people to get involved. If you're only playing for boring automated aetherbashing, you might want to reconsider what you're doing here. That goes for anybody, of course.

Edit: Holy crap I'm slow, ninja'd x3 sad.gif

Question for Charune. Why isn't the drain based on time locked into a module, or in aetherspace in general?

Not sure why this question is for me.

I was under the impression you were doing the coding. Guess not. tongue.gif

FYI, aetherspace is Roark's baby!
Razenth2009-08-31 21:24:41
Vesar come back! Someone needs to upgrade Stormscape...

This will thing seems to seriously mess up my nubs and people with low willpower, who can barely stay up for a half an hour. Can't you make it like, a flat 20k or 25k for everyone?

Um... isn't the whole point to make the newbs explore the rest of the game too, not just have them sat up in aetherships bashing because it will level them quickly?

Restrictions are in place to make an activity easier for higher level people for a reason, why should a complete newbie with 12 lessons in aetherspace be able to perform the same tasks as a trans demigod?

Doesn't make sense to me, let the newbs level up a bit the old fashioned way with a bit of aetherspace thrown in here and there.
Razenth2009-09-02 23:06:25
Iunno, I always felt aethercraft was a great equalizer, something that nubs and vets could do alike. I don't like how now only vets can really fully take advantage of what aetherspace has to offer.
Chade2009-09-02 23:10:50
Lusternia shouldn't be equal - the capacity is there for people who don't buy credits to advance quite considerably. Look at the achievements of Iasmos or Melville. I don't see why Aetherspace should equalise things, even just having half an hour is better than the newbies would have in astral so it seems fine to me.

I've hate what you've done with aetherwill, I drained 20k flying, in about 5 minutes. Please Fix.
Razenth2009-09-13 02:30:37
I hunt dragons and don't deviate 5 or 6 from max.

You also don't move.

Emphatically this. I do not understand why, if the goal is to limit hunting, that you would put such a huge drain on pilot glide - this only hurts people who fly around.

I agree, however it limits the amount of exp the pilot can gain. The down side you can get stuck out in aetherspace, and you start to die because at 10k or so you get exhausted and things kill you.
Razenth2009-09-13 02:50:48

Would be more easily accomplished by putting the burden on 'steer' over 'glide' no? As now, you can dock your ship near where you hunt and the pilot can steer aroud the little block with hardly any noticeable drain. It's the turrets and siphoners who tend to run out of will on our hunts... not the pilot. It's only when you go to fly to a bubble or to trade or set flash points, etc. that the drain becomes an issue.
