Exactly how is it calculated? Is it the same amount as your will out of a module?

I believe it is similar to willpower but modified by your skill in aethercraft.

Hmm, ok then... (I have 20k willpower both locked and unlocked in a module with Mythical (at Captain skill) aethercraft).

I haven't tried yet, but my first thought (without trying to see how fast it drains) is it sounds like a good idea for hunting.

If the will power drain is the same as a one room exploring ship, then there might be issues for those who like to explore every corner of areas.
Ayisdra2009-08-30 01:08:49
From the looks of it, Every room drains 1 will (with launching draining 100). Every four seconds you gain 5 will.

That is with the chair.
Gero2009-08-30 01:44:13
This is by far the most retarded thing I've ever seen, I can't even fly from elemental to cosmic now with this dumb willpower, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD FIX THIS NOW, REMOVE IT. It's that terrible, you can now get stuck out in the middle of aetherspace with no way to get back.

Edit: The will drain is INSANE, I lose 1 per room plus 300 or so when you fail to link right. I couldn't make it from elemental to cosmic, before -ALL- my will was gone.
Llandros2009-08-30 01:48:01
yeah, i'm thinking that it shouldn't drain on the pilot's chair at the least
Celina2009-08-30 01:52:11
This clearly deserved another thread separate from estarra's.

For that dramatic flair.
Razenth2009-08-30 01:53:14
It seems some people disagree QUITE strongly about this.
Llandros2009-08-30 02:18:59
the drain from piloting is WAY to strong, i used up 2k will just making a few laps around the aetherplex
Moiraine2009-08-30 02:36:51
Goozfrabba, dude. It's just a number adjustment.

Yup, more people give us input, the faster we'll adjust numbers!
Mirami2009-08-30 04:13:39
At first use, I'm not too thrilled with it. As a loboshigaru, I've got only 14,170 willpower, which by my estimates would drain in about an hour of aetherbashing, certainly in two (Master aethercraft). Seems to hurt the little people more than the big people, which doesn't help slow the demigod-train any.
Unknown2009-08-30 05:11:19
Seems the calculations are pretty crazy. I have around 14k as a near-trans pilot (versus 20k someone mentioned at only captain, wtf?), but can happily sail for hours (versus Gero's apparent drain). As in, the longer I sail, the more I get, because the regen is that high. I started around 14,500, ended, over an hour later, around 15,500, and that's with moving rooms as fast as possible.

Perhaps some math is broken.
Lehki2009-08-30 06:14:47
I've been piloting for like an hour, just going in a small circle kiting gargantuans, and I've never lost more then 4 willpower before regen brought me back to full. But it sounds like people who are probably gliding quickly through slipstreams are taking a big hit in willpower.
Xiel2009-08-30 06:17:14
From what numbers I've managed to scrape together, empathing each hit costs me 35 willpower per. At 31,205 max, I've never dropped below 31,000 continually healing the ranged attacks. The turreters have around 25 per shot and I think after two hours, they're maybe down 1,000 and the pilot hasn't dropped much further than myself either. The siphoners seem to take up 125 each link, and they're the ones who look like they're burning up the quickest amongst the four module types. I could easily keep up empathing all the time, but after an hour, most of our siphoners are out already.

Maybe a switch in between the calculations to double/triple up the drain on the chair/grid/turrets and lower the siphoning willpower significantly? I mean, the siphoners already get half the xp, and they seem to be getting triple - quadruple the willpower drain as compared to the other modules too.

My drain was so low because I'm only moving slowly, I wait like, half a second after getting balance back before moving, so I'm not even picking up momentum really. Pilot drain is already hell on people gliding around as some have pointed out.
Xiel2009-08-30 06:32:16
Oh, then minus the pilot then. thumup.gif

Yes please, and fix gliding back to the way it was the whole having to stop and then go is annoying as hell.

Edit: Also on grid too.
Razenth2009-08-30 08:47:45
Wait, you mean the Hammer isn't a giant brick and I'm actually supposed to be able to change direction midglide even in her? Dude, I just thought it was cause she was so big... If this "can't change direction in glide lolz" is a new change, change it back. The fact that you COULD change direction is what made glide useful.
