I'm going to point out that none of the things that are happening right now are new. For a long time, Magnagora and Celest have been raiding each other, sometimes for hours at a time similar to how it is now on the ethereal planes. Etherwilde and Etherglom were raided much less, even between the communes because it was a) unmeldable and the archways led to the nexii which limited raids to people who could raise divinefire or took the time to fly an aethership there. Raiders who escaped or were killed were also unlikely to return.
Recently, steps were taken to even out the odds on both planes (Maeve can be slain to make Ethereal meldable for example) and angels and demons on Celestia and Nil are suddenly seen as equivalents to Ethereal guards. Prior to this, I never thought of angels as anything more than targets to point my staff at and alert defenders. While they may affect combat, I don't believe Magnagoran or Celestian raiders have ever regarded angels or demons as more than I did. We’ve seen multiple people suggest that if Moon/Night champions were essentially invulnerable super guards , everything would be fixed!
Is the answer really just to add more mechanics? I think back to some rough times that Magnagora has had, and I’m glad we’ve built ourselves back up largely by our own making. The organization has had it's share of ranters and we may have wanted an easy exit at some points from the administration, but I don't think we ever got that. City mechanics remain largely the same.
Ultimately, I think the administration is playing a dangerous game reaching out like this and trying to make sweeping changes based upon the loud voices on forums. It not only encourages people to whine and throw fits each time they don’t get their way, but it also encourages organizations to seek a quick OOC fix anytime the going gets rough. I realize the administration is the ultimate deciding force, but I often wonder if it does let the cries of truly 5-10 loud people make more emphasis than the playerbase as a whole.
Why bother with organizational diplomacy anymore? We have forums!

Except that this isn't the orgs looking for a break. It's the players, non-coms and coms alike, just wanting it toned down a little.
Did you not see where the guild Champion doesn't log in anymore because they can't do anything besides raid defense/offense? Yeah, that's a problem.

That's why I mentioned that none of the things done are new. Only recently was this perpetual fighting that the cities are used to introduced to the communes. Prior to the city-commune conflict, I don't recall having many fights on ethereal planes at all.
None of the suggested mechanics will hinder raiding, even insanity. It might be annoying and force raiders to take breaks but they will raid in short bursts anyway (this is what happens now). A large part of this stems from the fact that commune players feel compelled to remove people waltzing through Faethorn.

It's true, a large problem is indeed the fact Commune players feel the need to protect faethorn due to good roleplay.

It's also true that it isn't like it just came up in the past couple weeks, it's been a bleeding wound for quite a while now.
And as was already observed, the fact orgs get turns being ground under the wheels of others and then feel much better about the whole process when it's their doing it is a known quantity and also irrelevant.

I think this is really going a bit far, as far as the some of the comments here are concerned. You can't cope with people's stupid yells or some mobs calling for help on ct/gt? You simply cannot get around to anything due to having to defend nonstop? You HAVE to kick anyone off Faethorn even though it is not org territory? Maybe you should take the game as what it is, a game. You're by no means obliged to always run to defend, I seriously doubt any of you try to consistently fight off people killing kephera or elfen mobs, for instance. Just do what you feel like doing, and if you feel you have to justify it rp-wise, be somewhat creative.
And not defending against the odds is fine, too. Noone expects you to suicide, not even ICly, and if you insist on playing your role like that, then you cannot really blame others and demand of them to accommodate to your notion of rp by staying away.

Usually if it's the person yelling I think it is, why do you even care? He just says random things that have no meaning knowing full well stopping a demigod from killing a single mob while great pented is pretty much impossible.
The other thing I think you see a lot of in this game that everyone completely ignores is that there is noooooooooooo riiiiiiiiiiisssssssssskkkkkkkkkk at alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll for dyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing hellllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
The "usual suspects" die a million times but it has zero effect on them. Killing them is meaningless in the extreme as they'll be back in mere seconds. The people who actually lose out on piles of exp are the 50's-70's without conglute or people actually levelling. I haven't even bashed since I changed orgs and shuyin spotted me five million essence and I'm still at 3.3 months later. Wupety doo.

Just so the Communes know, Maeve dieing doesn't actually hurt nature at all and it wouldn't even make sense for that to happen. She, like the Tide Lords and Earth Lords or the Xion crystals, is an artificial being created to preform a function and adminster a number of lesser creations who are also artificial beings assigned some function. The Ladies/Daughters/Knights of Maeve are all just unimportant minions. They have no soul and their only purpose is to serve the function that they were created and programmed by the 6th&7th circles to fufill. That function is to make sure that the Soulless don't eat Serenwilde, Ackleberry and Gloriana or the ethereal reflections thereof. Now that Avechna is here, that function is 100% redundant. Like with the mages and the Elemental Lords, her only use to the Communes now is that sometimes you can exploit her programming to get her to make her or her minions do stuff for you. But she also says crazy things sometimes and expects you to obey her. And you should just ignore her when she says crazy stuff, just like how 90% of the Geomancers ignore Klaymech when he says crazy stuff.

I agree, I could care less about Maeve. Dylara will stick around Ethereal to make sure nobody thinks it's a good idea to play with Etherwilde, but otherwise, if you go into Faethorn you're on your own.

Raiders don't come to kill mobs. They kill mobs to lure out defenders so that they can fight and if you take too long to come out, they all die. If you would like to have resetting mobs that drain your power on each death of them, so be it. You can operate at more of a loss.
If this was true, Narsrim would not come to kill mobs and hide behind Great Pent, refusing to fight anyone and running when he is done.
If this was true, Jozen would not cubix into Faethorn, scent, cubix out as soon as anybody looks in his general direction.
If this was true, all sorts of others ( I am too lazy to look back at my logs to pull all the "cubix in/cubix out" people out and display the names) would not run as soon as any challenge was presented to them. Most often running as soon as they see there is any sign of life at all on the plane. Excepting the occurrences where said sign of life is a low might player who ends up ganked, the 'raider' then running before any challenge presents itself.
Your assumption is flawed by evidence to the contrary.
Raiders come to kill mobs.
Assuming of course we are still mis-classifying what a raider is.

I second Gregori, you're way off there. Read the histories a bit and maybe you'll understand just how wrongly, but just so you know, Maeve is considered the collective consciousness of all the fae. She has said HERSELF that is she dies all the fae die (oh what? does that include Moon and Night? Oh yes it does!), so we are obligated to care. Wiccans are also obliged to care about the fae, remember that Elindel story? That is kinda important to the communes, which includes all the 'minions'.
Also as a Geomancer you might want to brush up on how the earth lords were formed, there is an event post and guild post by Veonira on it.
Also on general topic, I do think the daughters should be buffed or made easier to summon, if not just remove them please. I really don't like their purpose for existing right now if they have one aside from being raider bait.

When you rage kill collegium mobs, what exactly are you going after then?

LOL... Swing and a miss.
First off, that was what... a year ago? 1 time? Not repeatedly, for days on end every hour to two hours. Yeah, thought so.
Second off, when I raided Glomdoring whether it was to chop down trees or the -one- time I killed collegium mobs I stayed around and fought people. Hell I think I even died on a couple occasions. Sidd, Talan, Xenthos, Ishant used to chase me around frequently. I did not come in, kill some things and run. Or come in and see there was people who could challenge me and run.
Thirdly, yeah, try agin.

The current system is really a bonus to you, if there are no daughters to kill there is no way to lure out defenders and nothing for the raiders to do on your plane, thus not keeping them coming to you or attacking you.

Everything, and I do mean everything, in this post is incorrect.
People raid to kill mobs very frequently and run from any sort of fight(aka daily without fail). People have also raided with 0 daughters around, repeatedly, and for extreme periods of time. Their only interest is group curb stomping Urazial over and over who can't turn a trigger off.
Honestly, selective memory does not help your posting credibility. You know both of these things happen.
Xenthos2009-08-30 18:50:58
There is a huge difference, from a defender's standpoint, between raiders who come in and fight until they die... (Sojiro/Krellan used to do this, and Gregori sometimes)... and raiders who come in to run around doing absolutely nothing except killing lowbies and cubixing out when they get in trouble.
