So, my question to the Admins is, what is this system supposed to prove? It feels like it was just thrown in and it's only measuring ability is basically who can grief better. If it was supposed to measure who among the higher levels is a better combatant I think it missed its mark. However, if it was meant to measure solely who can kill the most people regardless of might/level then it's spot on.
So...is there any chance for clarification on the overall goal of the system?

I'm pretty sure it was meant to be a "neat addition" to the game which gives people a thing to feel good about.
I just don't think it was considered, from the "people playing the game side," what effects it would actually have-- it's not going to be taken / used the way it was intended. Already isn't.

There was already some player made kill/death counters, so it was something some people wanted. I think it's a fun addition aside from the, "reason to grief lowbies" that Xenthos pointed out.

Neat addition would make sense but it isn't all that neat, it's essentially just combat rankings but with the drawback that you can't get out of it, and newbies are automatically thrown into the fray.
I think the thought was good! It just needs more of those checks-and-balances that you mentioned earlier - and of course the opt out thing.

but I guess the 5+ deaths at the Megalith by certain Mags on the list made my point already.
So then I was going to mention how this really doesn't prove how effective a PKer someone is....
but then I guess Jozen being #1 already made my point.
So then I was going to mention how it's really encouraging the people who typically game the system anyways to basically harvest lowbies any way they can.
but then I guess they've already made that point too.
Remove own organization kills. Place a range on kills. No one so many levels+so much might below you will count. It'll never really be an effective way to track real pk other than group spam and what not, but still, the changes I mentioned will help.

The system itself isn't a terrible idea, in that it gives people who like to beat up other people something to work towards. The folly is in the targets this system makes an incentive of.
I think it would be fixed if we did the following:
Make it opt-in or opt-out.
Make it not record deaths on Celestia, Nil, Etherwilde, Etherglom, so that a powerful zerg can't rack up points playing whack-a-mole against people who are hopelessly outmatched but feel obligated to go die repeatedly.

Should probably just be scrapped or changed so the records are not shown to everyone. A hard coded kill/death tracker is nice but if it is public knowledge then it is just going to be more e-peen waggling. Nice gesture but unneeded.

No it cuts out the raid kills which really don't prove anything anyway except who has the bigger zerg/more demithings.
And it pretty much IS Combat Rankings, except it also shows who dies the most and you don't have an option of whether or not you want to join.
