Yes, well, I was just making it a point that severely limits the hunting grounds as thats where usually all the killing takes place--not that it's "just", but I was simplifying it.
Yes, I could kill on an aetherbubble, but...
I think you're trying too hard to prevent people from getting points on kills. By your same reasoning of racking up kills, then you should discount kills in revolts, wildnodes, domoths, so on so forth.
Honestly, the best way to accomplish what you're asking to do, is just remove the system entirely.

There is a difference between this and combat rankings. Combat rankings show those who want to fight each other fairly. This system shows griefage. Why get points for fair spars when you can get these points for unfair ones?

Just take out the public part, leave the private one.

So, yeah. Apparently overnight there was a raid on the Nexus Worlds.
Now, at this point in time, the Nexus Worlds are useless. There is nothing on them to raid... except people, of course. They've not been raided in ages.
Yet, with this incentive added in and no kind of checks, you've got people harvesting Evaine for points. Note that she's a whopping 25% of my might, and I'm not even omni-trans.
I'm pretty sure we wanted more sane raiding, not more people-harvesting... :/
The might-check is sorely needed, as is the ability to opt out of the whole PK-part of the system.

I'm against the system, honestly I don't care how many people I killed or how often I died. However the nexus world could have been ignored nothing we could have done there anyways. We baited people came, not just lowbies either.

Yes, how dare people defend.
If you play the game from a metagaming standpoint, sure. If you play it as a game where you need to 'protect' your areas, then that's completely BS reasoning, and you know it.
Further, it's completely obvious the raid was for the points. There was absolutely no other reason to raid the nexus world, except that you (by which I do not mean you specifically, but the group in general) wanted to kill people where there were no discretionaries. It's not like this is the first Nexus world raid prior to this system since the Constructs went down... or is it? Hm!

That makes me want to raid. Discretionaries are BS.

What's BS about them is discretionaries on Cosmic stopping Cubix, where on Ethereal, the archways to Faethorn are un-distortable.
That would, however, be getting a bit further off-topic than I really want to go here. *cough*

I'm not sure why the system is such a bad thing, provided there are no tangible rewards.
I think it would be nice if it showed the top killers in the last day, week or month though (RANKINGS KILLS TODAY, RANKINGS DEATHS THIS WEEK), rather than what seems to be a semi-permanent scoreboard.
Edit: That's not to take away from its current coolness, of course, especially in tracking per-person kills and deaths... brilliant stuff!

Well, don't complain about people dying if you're defending. Also from an IG perspective, you could have said ha let them rot they don't have the power to do anything.

From an IG perspective, I wasn't there to say anything. I am, however, stating that I can understand why they would feel the need to defend-- and, in fact, that's exactly what you are relying on when you state "We baited them to defend". So, I don't get what your point is. You wanted them to do what they did, you hoped they would, and now you're saying, "But they didn't have to! It's all their fault!"
Don't blame the "victims"!
Romero2009-09-20 00:19:04
Discretionary stops ascending/cubix out on faethorn/etherrealms too. You also don't have a cubix exit so your planes could be locked down entirely if you could distort. It shouldn't be so easy to always escape with no consequence.

Victims my butt, they killed us too and outnumbered us a fair bit. I don't see why you're mad that we killed people.

Discretionary stops ascending/cubix out on faethorn too. Not like you can really lock any plane down given prisms or whatever the thing that lets you enter anyway. I think.
Pyramids let you get in, but they're blocked on the outbound end by magical-movement-blockers. Prisms function just like cubixes, only they can't go to Cosmic+ planes.

I'm displeased with the system encouraging attacks solely for the point of flexing e-muscle, and I'm displeased with you trying to pretend it's somehow the defenders' fault that Jozen/Thoros/etc. wanted kills.
I also really dislike the reasoning that "You don't have to defend," because that reasoning is BS (and intended to say, "Hey, it's not my fault I raided, it's their fault for daring to defend"), so I will assault it when I see it. You threw it out there for some unknown reason, so thus; the response.

I agree, distort should also stop archway use.
And who cares about the nexus world fight, I suggested we just ignore them, but people wanted to fight, so I said why not. Bummer a lot of my guys died, but oh well.
Though, the 'hey you outnumbered us a lot' excuse is getting a bit old now, or I'm not using it enough.

Not really an excuse, just saying it wasn't a complete slaughter for lowbies and midbies just for the system kills.

Would have been better to say that, instead of "You didn't have to come," imo.
Especially since it would get very dull for raiders if defenders never came! Heh.

Why? You can still enter Nil through cubix, we can't enter etherrealms through cubix? How is that balanced in the least that you can lockdown and we can't?
Unknown2009-09-20 00:32:04
I don't even know what the point is now, this is quite a bit off topic, heh.
Rankings kills may or may not be solely for e-self-fellation, and that's certainly up to the individual member, but I think all Xenthos is trying to do is repeat what's been said from the start of the thread: it probably won't help the 'curb raiding' movement.
So, opt-in/out system.

Then make it block one-way-- you can go in, but not out. Done, just like cubix, only 2000 credits cheaper.
