Why are artifact vials so expensive?

Just somewhat of a gripe, I guess.

But at 40cr per I can't imagine there are a lot of artifact vials being sold. Especially with things like sorcelglass scrolls.

At 5cr per, with current market prices, that'd still be a hefty 35,000 per vial, but to me somewhat more reasonable.

I doubt something like this would get changed, but I figured I'd see the communities opinion on this.

Should make it 25.
Xenthos2009-09-20 05:13:00
I'd probably start buying if they were cheaper. Nowhere near worth it at the current value, to me.
Ilyarin2009-09-20 13:50:40
If they were, say, 10cr each, I'd probably buy a complete set (30-50 or so). At the current price, I have two, maybe four, and don't plan to get any more.
Zalandrus2009-09-20 13:55:35
Agreed. Are they the cheapest artifact now (along with pipes)? Maybe the admin are keeping the price elevated to account for an "artifact premium"...costs more to make something permanent and give you, the owner, the privilege of saying "look at me, I'm special, cool, and rich cuz I have an artifact vial"
Xavius2009-09-20 17:32:40
To the best of my knowledge, there are no cost effective artifacts. It's not just vials.

I have 23.

You, sir, were ninja'd.

Or we could buff them to help justify the current cost. How about just making the vial become a limitless source of whatever first gets poured into that vial (on the condition that it can never pour into anything else from there)? whistling.gif

I want this just so I can see Xenthos' reaction...

(Sorry Xenthos!)

Heh. Given how much I paid for the thing, I imagine they would bump up the price dramatically.

But yes. I'm never, ever going to buy artifact vial runes at 40cr each. Just isn't going to happen. Sorcelglass lasts a very long time, and you need so many of the artifact vials to be worthwhile (if you aren't buying a complete set you have to replace the vials -anyways- so there's not much point, except for one-two things you might want a few more sips of).

If they were 5-10cr, I'd probably consider converting my whole set of bottles over, which is ~350-700 credits.

350-700 credits versus 0 credits... hmm...

This pretty much sums up why the price should be lowered. It makes good business sense!

But bad IG economic sense, because it messes with commodity demand and gold sinks.

Given sorcelglasses and decay times, it really doesn't.

I have to replace my 70 bottles once in a real-life year. It would be 350-700 credits to make that once-a-year a never. That's not going to affect the economy much!
Diamante2009-09-20 22:59:47
Far less than say, golden soap messes up the cleanse enchantment business I'd wager
Unknown2009-09-21 00:00:23
I bought my artifact vials for two reasons: showing off that I sip from glowing vials and not having to replace my vials all the time. Given that I've played this game for close to five years now, I'd say the latter has been worth it to me.
