I was able to crash-and-burn CMUD in so many more ways than zMUD. The nifty new event-handling system isn't nearly as robust as I wanted, and the interaction between packages has a few big holes.

I don't understand the illusion issue.
I'm not sure how that standard line at the end makes it any different from current afflictions which are always the same and have illusions programmed to them. (i.e. crucifix, or vitae or trample)

What about mudlet? cross platform (unlike zmud) or is it just not stable enough?
Unknown2009-11-23 16:32:17
Heh, mudlet isn't very different from mushclient, if you're looking at newbfriendly clients, unless they've changed a lot from early development, in that you need to know lua or python or etc to code in it.

I'm not an illusionist myself, of course, but from I understand there are variable costs based on the length or content of the illusion being woven. Newlines cost power, I think, so by making one line into two, you're adding potential power cost. (No one would both to use just the secondary lines as illusions if most people had them set to toggle on/off based on the primary lines.)

I might poke around, I had about 40-50 people who bought my system, i imagine at least 50-60 more had a copy they didn't pay for (not that I care, I haven't bought a game since pre-2000).
These things usually die out without the creators support though, which I don't have the time to give. I could answer messages once a week or something. Lemme go have a look see if i can find one.

I have the Ciaran-Murphy-Thorgal system, if that's what you're looking for. If you just want it released, I can do that.

Mine's far, far from perfect, but I've thought about giving out my zMUD system. Having a bunch of people out there using it besides me probably would help with finding all the things I need to fix and definitely enjoy fixing things when I know what the problem is, but never been sure if I have the kind of time to dedicate to something like that.

Gigantic holes, ripped open by the horrible way it handles threading.
That said I'm way too lazy to convert to something else. Nothing like it erasing an alias from active memory mid fight and having it spam you with a loop for commands that suddenly don't exist. Oh Cmud, you so silly.

Catarin hasn't been around in months. Her domain name registration lapsed, so you can't even get an old version from her site now.
Someone else is hosting a copy of it, you can find it on the Systems page on the Archives of Lusternian Lore wiki. For what it's worth.

Yeah, that would be Desitrus, who just gave CMUD a less-than-great review.

Sounds like Desi's system was never broken- it just broke him!

Cmud's speed issue is too much for me. They've gone so long without addressing it, I'm gonna make the switch to mushclient. Who wants to buy parry updates for treant? 80 credits each!
(That part is a joke)

Yeah I feel your pain man. All anyone really wanted was for cmud to be fast and not delete stuff on you for no reason. It's like someone is constantly playing jokes on you, as if a gremlin was pausing time and removing things then unpausing it and laughing at you.

I approve, zmud slowed down too much for me to use much anymore. Mush is really nice, and fastttttt.

Man I've been using MUSH since open beta.
Ya'all is posers.
(no I can't write even a basic script in it)

Earlier people mentioned that 2 lines would just be free. and 3 lines would cost power.

There is currently a thread about it being in version 1.0.
I havn't played with it yet, but since it works on macs, linux and windows. and it works from a flash drive, I don't see how it can go wrong
Plus it's made with the IRE community in mind.
