Subj: Achievements!

I'd like to announce the opening of the ACHIEVEMENTS system here on
Lusternia!

You can use the ACHIEVEMENTS command to see what ones currently exist.
We'll be adding many more in the next few days! Feel free to comment on
forums with ideas for achievements to add.

Completing achievements will give the player rewards, which right now
consist of experience bonuses. Achievements can only be completed once.

I'm liking it so far, are the kills that we have currently have carried over from when Rankings Kills|Deaths started?

The rewards themselves don't look like anything worth working towards, but the idea is nifty. Very nifty. I love it.

Right now there's no set purpose for the points. You will just accumulate them as you complete more achievements. We may add rankings for them and displays for other players to see, or perhaps a reward at certain levels. If you have suggestions, let us know!

Right now there are no mob kills recorded from that system. The mob numbers carried over are from when Kongregate started, because that number had been used as an achievement for Kongregate.

We could kills achievements down the road, and if so they'd be using the kills/deaths database.

For the mob achievements, if you've killed mobs in the past, it should just take killing another to activate the achievements.

I don't know about you.. but I quite like big experience bonuses when bashing!

I like it! It gives incentive for people to try different aspects of the game without hunting down players. Also, if the points are eventually going to be used for something, it gives people gunning for demigod (or higher levels in general) something else to work on.

Holding a guild position.
Holding a commune/city position.
Joining/founding a family.
Being married.
Submitting a book to the library.
Acting/Costumes/Directing a play.
Winning prestige for stage/scholarly/literary.
Levels 22/80/100
Transing 1/3/all skills

Great idea!

Some more suggestions:

owning a shop
depositing 1,000,000 gold into the bank
buying an artifact
owning a shop in each city/commune
owning a manse
getting an honours line
getting 10 honour lines
putting 10,000 power into a nexus
putting 100 power into a nexus etc...
owning a clan
owning a cartel

But since they're temporary they're hard to work around. Say that I earn one of the blessings just as I'm about to leave for 24 hours for whatever reason (school, work, moviemarathon), it essentially becomes wasted. Especially in regards to the resurrection line since that's quite distinct from bashing.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea. I just won't be aiming for the achievements for the achievement rewards themselves as is.

I think that is the point, do it for the novelty.

Also, achievement stats says I rezzed someone, but I didn't get the credit for the first achievement, I assume it'll tick when I rez someone again?

As Talan hinted at above, some guild or commune/city or even order related achievements might be a nice idea!

Some great ideas folks, keep them coming!

The next ones to be released (already in code, just not yet live game) will be achievements for winning arena events.

Yeah, if you have the requirements you have to do it once more to get the achievement.

Unfortunately these kinds of things weren't tracked from the start of the game, else you'd have another few hundred percent added to that whopping XP bonus of yours.

There has been a week or so where some of these were tracked before the achievements went live, which is what you see in the stat.
