I have trans influence, charismaticaura up, performance on, 18 charisma buffed up with netzach, a throne, beauty karma, and populus. The max I can obtain is 19 or 20 (not sure about 20 but perhaps with a combination of these things) with either lion from astrology, a truefavor, or in the presence of a cacophony bard.
I suffer from 1300-1700 ego loss per amnesty request.
I performed over 100 amnesty attacks on the mob (I realize that they become immune after some time) I had to leave 3 or 4 times in order heal back up because I couldn't sustain his attacks with sipping/sparkleberry.
Great Cthoglogg, Avatar of the Hidden Empress is a greedy bugger. He is in a great mood. He is currently willful.
He is currently engaged in a debate with you.
He was in a great mood and willful to accept amnesty. If 12 is referred to as an 'average' then 18 is far above that it should be considered probably heroic or near divine or whatever DnD like term we can substitute for 18 cha attribute that is stacked through buffs that not many have with skills.
I know that Viscanti is not an influence race nor is the Nihilist class.
My point is that in a game that places so much on not going into enemy territory, why is it so damn difficult to remove it. I am a Demigod with a trans skill and managed to buff my cha to near max available for my race, he was willful and in a great mood. I want to know why such high charisma and all other optimized conditions that I fulfilled for trying to influence this way still fails so hard. Could we get a look at the amnesty situation for folks. And I rather not here the 'pay the gold'. We are talking about a set of skills that even when optimized is near impossible for people outside of races and demigods made for influencing when that should be the case if everyone has the skill.
With the ever changing politics of the Basin, I am not trying to pay 100-200k for every npc org that I can't attack this week. It should be made easier to get temporary amnesty to override those 1 million essence loss costs that people are facing. There is already a system to limit/make it more difficult for amnesty with the mob mood but it seems even with a great mood its still wtfhard.

Well. I'm pretty sure that as a mag you've never been able to attack the illithoid, this week or any other, but... you're trying to influence one of the hardest denizens in the game. I am a pretty good influencer, and frequently enough even with 22 cha, I will fail on mobs of this caliber. I know Viynain has the same problem. If you don't get the amnesty after say 40 tries (Cthoglogg usually takes me 30-35) just stop, and walk away, wait for him to relax, then try again in a few minutes. Continuing for 100 tries after the mob has become willful is just a waste of time and bromides. That's just how it works. Incidentally, willful means obstinate, not willing.

The empowered version of Cthoglogg reaches supermob status a la Elohora/Albion/Luciphage/Lhiannan before the changes. Influencing those, even as a demigod Spiritsinger Wild Elfen with all the influencing buffs you can get at 23 CHA, I failed getting them then half the time I ever attempted to get amnesty from a supermob. Like Talan said, if you're not getting it within 30 - 35 hits, you're not getting it considering they're willful just about then. Best bet is to try again later.

Being a Demigod faeling in a bard guild with domoth/karma/ridiculous buffs shouldn't be a requirement for something that is so commonly needed or a skill that is had by everyone with trans influence.

It works on almost every mob except a very small handful of the super-baddies. In those cases, you're supposed to ask for help or shell out gold, I think.

Yeah if you want to make a valid complaint, for amnesty influencing, join the bandwagon on 'having to do a multi hour long quest in order to even get access to the mob you get amnesty from'. That should change over anything else.

Toughest influence battle I've had was with amnesty from Maeve. At 22 cha it took me 23 attacks to get her to capitulate. She was mildly annoyed at the start, which I guess makes it harder.

You always have the option for parley.

Amnesty isn't one of those things with any sort of level playing field, for better or worse.
I mean, Serens and Celestians can't even try it against undead denizens.
I'm all for making something like amnesty more equitable, if only because of the vast sums of gold parley can take.

Since you can influence the Shallamurine chief priestess* (been ages, can't remember her name) for amnesty, I think you don't need to be able to influence undead in general to influence an undead faction leader for amnesty. Maybe there are other cases where it doesn't work, though, never tried for Shallach, for instance.
EDIT: * meaning I did as a Celestian
Zallafar2009-11-28 23:10:12
OK, had an even tougher amnesty battle. Took 32 attacks but got it. 22 cha again. Haven't seen the need to get that last cha point with a karma blessing.
