I quite like that word actually, but don't try to pin my reason for voting down as something so trivial. Your 'feeling' became 'going with my gut' became "I don't trust Kira." How did that happen? Why are you gunning so hard for her lynch? I don't trust her either - I even said that I would be keeping an eye on her, and in case you haven't noticed, both scum powers can only be used at night - but her power is too useful to risk her being lynched today. Is it so hard to see what's more advantageous in the long run?
As for Rika, I'm getting townie vibes from her if we can trust that she did indeed use Quadraslice (speaking of which, would Quadraslice ever hit the user?). There are so many better ways she could have 'misused' her swordtech if she were scum.
Dugan and townie vibes, on the other hand.. not so much. My vote stays.

My vote stays with Furien... No way for that mog power to help the town, since neither of the scum powers have a chance to miss. Only truly useful thing it does is block Rika's swordtech, esp. if he's scum.
Daganev2009-12-13 17:10:27
Lynching Dugan on day 1 is just as stupid as lynching Kira on day one.
Kira is acting scummy, but we arn't votin her just incase.
If Dugan is acting scummy, we also shouldn't vote for him, just in case.

What if scum is the person with the redirect powers? What if rika is scum?
Lets not forget that even if Rika is not scum, her power killed off Solanis, who was town.
Based on your logic, Mog should not even have been an option in the game from the get go, because no matter what, he would be the first lynch on day one.

What are you advocating, then? If we just go after the non/not particularly-scummy-acting not-useful-to-town roles, aren't you supporting Shiri's value judgement strategy of weighing usefulness to town/scum in selecting lynch targets? Should we just not vote Shiri/anyone else but who we decide are useless despite them acting scummy, just in case?
Sorry, it's kinda late so there are a couple of weird sentences there, but I hope I got the point across. I'll check back when I get up.

No, I am saying that there are specifically 2 roles, which we should not lynch day 1. The person who protects us against Kefka, and 2. the person who protects us against Ugalos(sp?)
Anyone else who seems scummy, we should lynch. However those two, we should watch at night, if we think they are scummy, or use some other methods of determining if they are scum, before we rush to a conclusion.
Personally I don't think Dugan is acting all that scummy. If I did not have an alternative suspect, I would be voting Kira as well. It's only because I see that there are other scummy people, that I think voting for Kira/dugan is a bad idea.

Ahem. Daganev.
There. That's the timing of two of my posts. (I removed the contents because the focus is on the time) One made before the discussion of using Rika's Quadraslam where I mention I'll try to return as quick as I can.
The post afterwards is the moment I returned, as I had no prior chance to even get on internet, much even read up on the game. I was not a part of the discussion. I had no chance. Saying that I was a part of the discussion is just blatantly false.
And really, am I the only one who noticed how quickly the Quadraslice triggered? If it had been activated at any other time, people would actually be given a chance to unvote, but as it is it breezed by. Even more I don't like how from what I see the hinting only begun towards the end (end?). No indication, Shiri is the only one who gets a chance to unvote and bam, a list full of potential suspects for the town to toy with.
tl;dr
I never got a chance to unvote.
Rika didn't give people enough time to unvote.
I suspect Rika Quadraslammed, not Quadraslice.
Vote: Rika

To me, it's not that you never unvoted during it, it's that you unvoted after I had already done it. If it was the former, I would be going for Shiri. I thought he would have been intelligent enough to get my hints but it was only after Silferras spelled it out for everyone that he supposedly "got" it. Maybe he was just feigning it and hoped it would be too late for my power to work before I got a chance to activate it.
I had no choice. It was either to take the risk or not to take it at all. I thought this was a once-a-game power so I didn't want to waste it. I believe I had dropped an early hint that my power was potentially massively helpful for town, but everyone seemed to ignore it and went with the potential for me to be scum and hurtful for town. I didn't know to what extent I could tell you about my plan and it was only in the end that I was getting worried that my, apparently too subtle, hints would not reach you guys that I had to guide someone through. Luckily, Silferras picked up on it. If you go back, I never once actually said I was charging up my power or anything until after I had used it. This was because I didn't want it to be disabled.
I had the plan as soon as I saw Quadraslice when I signed up. I was pretty keen to use it. Woke up in the morning, saw it was page 4, messaged Xavius straight away and then posted for the first time. I even dropped hints about this.
PS: I'm voting for Furien, not Kira. Don't trust Xavius' vote counts.

Out of curiosity, why the subtley in the first place?

Btw, this is an intersting point. Because earlier on in the thread I had mentioned that I did not think such a plan would work. And it is odd that Shiri seemed to "get it" only after someone else was more open about it. Personally, I didn't think it was going to work because there was reasons to be voting for people at that point in the game, and I didn't think people would just talk without voting.
Kiradawea2009-12-13 23:54:49
While potentially true, it makes for a poor defense because you would be perfectly capable of saying "I can use my Quadraslice to a great effect by eliminating scum, since if noone votes, both scum will have a 50% chance of being killed" or something similar. Only a blatant mod copout would make that lose your power, since it can easily be formulated in a way to make it not appear useful. Even more so, it'd create a discussion around it through which we could get to join in on the decision to use said power. You acted alone and in a manner that ultimately proved to be harmful to town by killing off one of the townies.

Oh...was this what the subtley was all about? Guess I read that requirement differently.
Couldn't you get around that by just saying "IF" or "hypothetcally"?

C. Attempts to play in the spirit of the game make the game more interesting for your fellow players, spectators, and the mod. Fifteen seconds could add 15% or more to your karma score.

I don't see how talking hypothetically about the potential uses of skills breaks any spirit of the game. We just can't know when or which day or how long we have till a swordtech might be used.
But thats in the past now.

Mafia is all about taking risks. No one can be 100% sure about what is going to happen. Not even the mod can predict what happens.

Furien2009-12-14 03:52:38
I realize this will sound very much odd, but I don't find Shiri's claims suspicious. I really am the safest lynch possible, at this point, and pretty soon someone is going to have to get over their indecisiveness and stick their neck out. That's what mafia is about.
I don't find Shiri's claims hugely scummy. Sensible, yes, unfortunate as well, but not necessarily scummy unless someone wants to persuade me otherwise.
