I was pondering, why not add extra effects to a couple of the seals because of aetherhunting.
Have War, Life, and knowledge give you temporary proficiency of 20% (up to 100%) to Combat, Empath, and Pilot respectively.
Thoughts?

Aetherbashing is already incredibly lucrative and just fine as is. It doesn't need to be made even better.

New idea! Let's reduce the effectiveness of turret/grid/chair to make these a requirement (not joking, I hate people who get Demigod from the joke that is Aetherbashing )
Gregori2010-01-07 06:04:55
It's no different than the influence to demigod or ur'bash to demigod. That ship has already sailed - no pun intended.
At this point in time it would be just better to have everybody get demi when they leave Newton. Currently the new lesson plans, and I kid you not I watched people in Serenwilde and the Hearth Aetherpirates clan tell newbies this, is to learn nothing but aethercraft and then sit on ship. This is straight from the portal of fate to a siphon, with nothing but 15 lessons spent to get demigod.

Siphon is more than 15 lessons in.
And sometimes your pilot is a retard, and you get ten kills in half an hour and then get blown up by a dragon.

1. You don't need siphon. In fact if you want to be technical you can go from Portal of Fate to Aethership to Demigod without spending a single lesson.
2. If you get 10 kills (assuming you are fighting dragons here), period, and blown up you are ahead of the game. Hell I look forward to blowing up cause it breaks the monotony.
3. 10 kills in half an hour? It takes <2 minutes to kill a dragon and most of the time <1 minute.
Mortexia2010-01-07 06:56:06
In all honesty, I don't see a need for this. I sat on a turret for 4 hours one day, and 4 hours the next, and went from 72 to 80 because of this, and this was just sitting on a turret, and not the Grid which I had 100% proficiency on, and this was *not* due to Dragons, either.

Oh well, at least I can feel better about myself when you wanna-be Demigods fail hard when it comes to gathering essence and Death challenges. Ba-zinga!

Well it is good that you have something you can feel good about. God knows you don't have anything else. Ba-zinga!

Notice that I said that "sometimes your pilot is a retard".
And if you're hunting dragons, you're doing it wrong.

You can kill a dragon in a minute and get .20%, or you could kill three gargantuans and get .12% apiece. Or whatever % you get at your level. Also, much less blowing up. Not sure if dragons do module damage, but gargantuans don't, which is also a big time saver.

If you are blowing up on dragons you are doing it wrong. There is only one reason you should blow up on dragons and that's rare as it is. Dragons are also far better experience than gargantuans.
Rodngar2010-01-08 02:44:55
Are they harder to kill than gargantuans? I've discovered the glory of aetherbashing supplementing normal stuff, so..

Yes, they are harder to kill and there is a trick to killing them. Once you learn how to do it the experience flows though.
Rodngar2010-01-08 03:01:02
I wish to learn of this trick.
Unknown2010-01-08 03:18:41
Keep in mind that your trick just might be a bug...
