I still think it's unfair that you need more then the basic skills to get the Butterflies. Not everyone HAS influence!

It would only take about 10 credits to learn up to flattery, and then you're all set.

Although I agree with you, I don't feel novices should be required to put credits into Influence to do the power quest.

Know what I find really amusing? The sheer amount of "novices" who start out as a mage Trill/Lucidian/Dracnari now that Hallifax and Gaudi are out.

You are surprised that there are alts where there are shiny new things? You must be new here.

So we can have the energy to try and meet deadlines - like, say, opening the cities/planes.

Energy? It's called Red Bull, sir. Drink it and get back to work.

My new character is not really an alt, more like the new character I made because I got tired of my old one back a year ago or so. So he is my new main.
Hallifax seemed to fit perfectly, since he just happened to be a Trill and very quiet/scholarly/perfectionistic even as I made him to be a New Celest citizen.
So on all other accounts than being a mage (he was supposed to be a Bard) I pretty much hit that one 100% without even knowing Hallifax was going to become a player city.
Funny thing.

You know, I've heard quite a bit from "old dracnari" about how the sudden influx of dracnari people piss them off.
"I was a dracnari -before- we had Gaudiguch! People used to reincarnate out of my race, but not me! I stuck with it! Uphill both ways pregnant and barefoot with a cane!"

I figure that the sudden appearance of Hallifax and Gaudiguch, if nothing else, is going to increase the Lucidian, Trill and Dracnari roleplaying. That cant be a very bad thing, I reckon.

Yeah, I really don't get this sentiment. You're upset that there's an influx of new characters wanting to join your city? So what if most of them are alts, some of them will probably enjoy it more and stay there.

I'm upset that there's an influx of new characters that magically know exactly how to find Gaudiguch and who Scuchidira is. Alt Abuse anyone?

Dear mods: This next part is not a personal attack, nor is it aimed at any one person. Really. Pinky Promise.
He's basically butthurt because he stuck it out with a sad race while others flew by with shiny merians and sexy faelings. No matter that he's a changeling now, he still feels "dracnari" inside, and because he was that race for so long, he feels entitled to respect from "new" dracnari. Sort of.
It's understandable to a point, but ragekilling novices because they are a certain race isFain!!!!!!!1! wrong.

No. Not really. I'm just pissed that there are a ton of newbies that magically know how to find Gaudiguch and know EXACTLY who to talk to. It's bad RP, and it breaks the immersion.

Well gee, did you complain when those faelings came out of the Portal and came right to Glomdoring without being greeted? How many novices go straight from Newton to Tosha to beg up to 60+? How many novices "instinctively" know where the spawn are in the Hills, or to gather bards and scholars for free gold and experience?
Seriously, I'd rather that than
(Newbie): Lolnovice says, "Where is Gaudiguch/Hallifax?" X 9000.
90% of these "alt abusers" are older players who want to play around in cities that we've wanted around for numerous years, but can't afford to move or just don't want to, because it breaks "arrpee".. Heck, 50% of the people in communes/cities are just alts of older players.

Moral of the story: Just because you gather the goods doesn't mean everything is ready already. Next time, take it more slowly.

There's a difference between popping out of the portal and going off and doing your own thing without bothering anyone. It's QUITE another thing to pop out of the portal and instantly start participating in an ongoing event. In either case, I think you're taking this a bit -too- hard. Is it really so much to ask that you wait 15 minutes or so before taking an alt down to Gaudi and actually bother finding out ICly about it?

I'm not taking it hard, I merely disagree with you. It's sort of wrong RP wise, true. But since when do people care about RP except when it's convenient?
I say Estarra should limit people to three characters max. I could pick three characters and not worry about it unless I had to delete one to make another.
