Return of Hallifax and Gaudiguch

Back to Common Grounds.

Mebbe. Or they had their own Taerin passage of sorts. It seems a little unfair for those two orgs to have only one elemental location and not an extra Taerin location.

I think the event is running well. To everyone saying they should just release the player-orgs already, I say wait until the event unfolds. Sit back and enjoy it. I doubt they'll open up the orgs until we know enough about them to actually play them well.

People need to take their heads out of the skillsets for a minute and attempt just a little character interaction that isn't governed by power-gaming. Maybe it's the RPI speaking, but this is getting quite silly IG.

Quoted because it is true.

Aye! I like this right here, Vhaas! Everyone is blurring the lines between IC and OOC right now and it's funky! tongue.gif

And, for posterity:

QUOTE
You look at the Golden Belt of the Enlightened that Scuchidira is wearing:
An exotic and luxurious piece of goldsmithing, the Golden Belt of the Enlightened glistens with a fiery glow all of its own. Forged entirely of the rich, precious metal, a great multitude of wide, interlocking metal hoops form much of the belt's circular body, their only decoration a long, serpentine and scaled tail that weaves through each of them as it makes its way from one side of the great, girdle-like buckle to the other. A radiant aura of fiery warmth envelops the whole of the belt, the gold surface itself reflecting the manifold tongues of licking flame of the Elemental Plane of Fire within its eternal gleam. The fore of the belt is a massive buckle, a great construct of luxuriant gold shaped into the glorious visage of the Guardian Drachou, his tail curling from the opposite side of the buckle to rest near his maw. Framing his draconic features are the exquisitely detailed butterfly wings of the Sacred Guardian, masterfully worked into the gold.

You look at the Medallion of the High Flame that Scuchidira is wearing:
Glassy beads of obsidian and fiery rubies twist about themselves, strung through with glistening threads of scarlet silk, composing the exotic Medallion of the High Flame. Designed so that, when worn, twisting patterns would spiral outwards from the wearer's heart, their black and scarlet gems coming together to mimic the regal form of a drachou, encircling itself as it spirals inwards and through its own looping form. The drachou's great fan-like wings sweep back from centre of the medallion but from behind, framing and supporting the twisting body with shimmering, butterfly-shaped wings of black, volcanic glass. Betwixt the wings rests an eye composed of polished obsidian with a ruby centre, the gemstone cut to mimic the vertical slit of a serpent's fiery gaze.

You look at a fiery basalt staff that Scuchidira is wielding:
Carved from a single piece of ebony basalt, the staff radiates a heat so intense the air in its immediate vicinity flickers visibly. Its surface is smooth and flawless, utterly devoid of any decoration or adornments save for the two tips. At the bottom one, the staff flares out slightly, becoming thicker and allowing for a secure stand. Near the upper tip however, the staff splits into four pieces of stone that fan out and wrap around a flaming sphere, holding it securely in place. Shining a dark crimson, the sphere shifts continuously, appearing more like a thick fluid barely contained in its current form. Flames of bright red leap from the sphere every so often, making it the centre of a fluid, ever changing dance.

Go Warrior and you'll get to keep all of it.

What's this supposed to mean?
Xavius2009-12-20 23:54:43
Anyone else think it's weird that the aeromancer is cold and emotionless? Sure, he's lucidian, but he'd've been part of a guild that was noted for its trills, no?
Vhaas2009-12-20 23:57:03
But this one is a Lucidian. Not a Trill.

Now that he's clarified, it means that he doesn't know how lesson pools work. tongue.gif

The only thing I'm annoyed at is that the aeromancer staff is crystal... my staff is crystal... it is no longer special! ohmy.gif

Shushie, I don't feel like making sense today.

Soooooo, any epic quests coming out for the cities? pray.gif

Hate to burst your bubble, but the Trill and Lucidian warriors at the Mesa have always used crystal staves.
Kiradawea2009-12-21 03:10:01
Calm down. Let them get their elemental planes first. Then city power quest, collegium, and then you get an epic quest.
Unknown2009-12-21 03:21:43
Hmm where are the Trill representatives for Hallifax in this! It seems skewed towards the lucidian/logical dimension of the city at the moment. If the Trill ruled the the basin then the world would be a much happier place.

Subj: Release of the Lost Cities!

As you may have now guessed, we are releasing the lost cities of
Hallifax and Gaudiguch as player cities. I thought it is best I address
that here now before people rush to make any hasty decisions. Though
we've been planning this for quite some time, I must admit I was
struggling on the wisdom of releasing the new orgs without a larger
playerbase but eventually I decided to go ahead and do it but I thought
it should be a slow growth process. Therefore, as you may have already
seen, there is only one guild listed in each city. And, yes, that's all
that will be opening.

The plan is for the cities to raise 200k power. When they have that
much, and if they are willing, they must pay 100k power to release the
next guild. The choice will be between a guardian and warrior guild.
Those will be the next guilds we work to release (it may not happen
instaneously). For the next guild, the same procedure follows. After the
guardian and warrior guild are released we may or may not begin work on
a bard and monk guild. We will assess at the time whether or not we have
the playerbase to support it.

To emphasize, we expect this to be a SLOW process. The next two guilds
may be spread out over 2010. Certainly, we won't allow the next guild to
open for at least a couple of months. Also note, with the exception of
mercenaries (i.e., warriors with hunting), if you join the city and do
not want to be a mage, you will be stuck in a class who can't use any
skill that requires nexus powers. So please look before you leap!

While you can see the guilds listed already, we will not be allowing
anyone to join the guilds until probably Tuesday. (It may be earlier but
my birthday is tomorrow.) Entering the city may be allowed sooner, but
that has not been decided.

Also, the survivors of the Taint Wars (Scuchidira and Cririk) have been
granted sole and absolute power to act as city leaders and guildmasters
(i.e., they cannot be contested). Who knows how long they'll remain in
power? One can never tell with these temporal anomalies perhaps they'll
live forever!

A small question that the announce doesn't answer, perhaps you should repost another addressing it. What about ministerial positions? Will they be filled?
