Why, the worthy and contributing middle-class combatants of course. The ones who you see here are obviously the ones who have earned the right to stand on the October Square by their studies on the terminal velocity of bullets and the most effective locations to place it inside the enemy to provice a cessation of cerebral physiology.

I think you have the idea backwards. Those soldiers there are going to be sent to the front line. To quote general Zhukov: "If we come to a minefield, our infantry attacks exactly as it were not there."

Basically, they were all dead. The Gulags were the lazy people, the soldiers were the meat shields. The smart soldiers were already executed by Stalin for betraying him.

1. OMG OP MELD. I CAN FINALLY KILL SOMEONE!
2. I might get 'first' honours lines!
3. Freedom! Yay! I can do whatever I want and nobody can kick me out or tell me off for it like all those other orgs I got chased out of!
4. BOOZE AND WEED!!!

Fixed.

In what little time I have to pop in I've been trying to figure out the plane of Vortex and how it relates to the general concept of Chaos (assuming we're dealing with Order and Chaos regarding the cities). I expected the Continuum to be what it is, but Vortex doesn't fit what I would have considered "Chaos". I wonder where the inspiration comes for that.

A bunch of outcast trouble causing people joined Gaudiguch you say? Wow, who didn't see that coming.

That's because Vortex isn't supposed to be "chaos". If any aspect of Gaudiguch embodies chaos, it's the fire elemental plane. Fire is inherently chaotic. Then again, so is air, but the elemental planes have never really meant a thing in terms of RP. I guess vortex could be representative of Gaudiguch's fascination with 'pleasures of the flesh', though there's nothing remotely sexy about it.

You're clearly not into the right fetishes.

I've seen it as more Freedom vs Law (or perhaps Bureaucracy) than pure Chaos vs Order.
Unknown2010-01-14 04:06:54
I too, am shocked that Gaudiguch turned into Ashtan, both ideologically and attitude-wise. I did not see that coming at all.
Furien2010-01-14 04:09:16
Oh god, does that make Hallifax the Hashan?

I thought I wouldn't have to go through this crap again.

edit: remaining neutral on every issue OMG IT DOES

See the original post, a good chunk of it is exactly on what the inspiration could be from, and how it fits!

Edit- the trick is to look at chaos in more the fashion of the ancient greek definition, rather than more contemporary definitions.

Remember, to them it is something akin to the opposite of "cosmos". It is the universe before form, the abyss, a state of not-yet-realized potential.

The Vortex, if I remember right off the top of my head, was a creche that was never fully used, while as the Continuum is one that was fully used and emptied. (fully realized potential) This works into this definition. The bizzare flesh monstrosities of Vortex represent potentials of creation- hence the primordeal soup of organic goop as well. But really, see the first post.

Does this mean we will get an orphanage and become the basin's drug dealers?

Sadly, it doesn't fit the bill of chaos to a T, but I can work with that halo.gif

I see Vortex as the "plane of potential". Every denizen there is not even half-formed. It is still shaping up to be something. A single eye floating here, legs moving a mass of flesh, a pot of muscle tissue.

Continuum in this context is the opposite, as all of the potential is already gone and now lies as a dead place, but also represent defined things, structured and orderly, already set in stone.

The Vortex Falls.
Throughout the location, small dancing flames flicker and spark. The Vortex Falls crash down from above here in an endless cascade of half-congealed, flesh-tone liquid, occasionally spewing gooey globs of half-formed skin and flesh which slap audibly against the flesh-formed body of the cliff. Ripped malformed skin, organs, flesh and miscellaneous, clear fluid line the walkway, carved mercilessly away from the natural flesh that makes the Vortex, leading up and down the Falls. Grotesque, unnatural flora and fauna wreathed from skin sprout happily in random places along the flesh, adding a sense of life to this bizarre environ. Flush against the wall is a valve that breathes in and out.

Built about a mass of malleable tissue, the hekoskeri is a hideous aberration, little more than a tangle of flailing arms, hands and eyeballs. The arms themselves are decidedly humanoid, ending in hands that possess five digits each, each distinct from its neighbors. No single gender is represented upon the hekoskeri, its limbs always shifting through the broad spectrum of male and female with many decidedly indistinguishable from both. Between the shoulder joints of the many limbs great eyes stare out, some more humanoid than others - irises from all spectrums of colour, some even a metallic gold or silver. Each of the hands take turns holding the body aloft, the rest twisting and grabbing at anything nearby, their nailless fingers clenching and unclenching.

You can find two Fleshpot descs in the Quotes thread.

HALLIFAX WILL NEVER BECOME HASHAN!

And I'm really not surprised that Gaudi became Ashtan.

No, they'll become more of a Kinsarmar at this rate. badday.gif
