Custom Paintings/Statues

With hallifax promoting art and the like it would be very helpful if we could create designs for paintings and statues.

Possible methods could be:

1. Customizable sketches -
These could work like designs, you could paint a canvas or sculpt a statue using the sketch. An issue could be in the lack of checks. Maybe once off?

II. Painting directly -
You could enter the editor with a canvas in your inventory (maybe at an easel?) like a letter, once it is done that's it no changes can be made to it. Marked with the artists seal and all that.

C. Some form of art rooms/easels and galleries -
A room that allows the above, manses and orgs could have them then items created there could be displayed in a gallery or moved out to the city by the culture ministry.

So 1 and II are fairly... unrestricted which can lead to obvious issues. Cartels would be awkward for this sort of thing with restrictions and all. C could work like library cards except that not all members have them by default, so the culture ministry could monitor their use and remove access from people using the facility to create insane scribbles. The galleries/moving to the city was a secondary but nice addition allowing players to display their work while still letting some sense of moderation through a ministry. "statues" would probably be best as sculptures so they are not enchantable and can be placed in more locations.

It's already possible to create custom paintings by altering a manse room to suit your specifications, with the room name as the name of the painting and the room desc as the painting itself. You then simply paint a landscape.

A way to make custom statues would be nice, though.

Being able to make statues of items would be interesting as well.

Custom statues are a bad idea...they're quickly, cheaply, and anonymously constructed as well as prominent in the room. It takes very little imagination to come up with a dozen truly offensive reasons why such things are not allowed. (Only 2-3 of which directly involve lurid poses of personal enemies with various barnyard animals.)

ASCII paintings would be a neat idea though!

How about custom statues, but only in manses?

Perhaps I am just dense, but what can you do with a custom text statue that is significantly worse than a custom text painting? Mind, the statues are actually rather limited with where they can be placed, whereas lewd paintings can be kept anywhere with a flame sigil, and a painting that isn't pinned to a wall via exhibit can't be destroyed with the art skill to destroy.

I'm sure if people were to get out of hand, the old shrub wand would work its wonders pretty quick. Hence why you don't see it being so rampant with paintings as is right now.

Mainly the fact that its anonymous, I suppose. If that were changed it would probably be fine. Then again, the custom painting/manse thing generally rings of "oversight that no one has horrendously abused, yet" rather than "by design". Lusternia in general seems very strict about admin maintained control over what objects/descriptions can exist in the game. I imagine if we were to ever see it, it would be cartel-based.

How about if statues are stamped with marks?

QUOTE
probe statue
Grandest among the angelic hosts are the archangels of Celestia, and one stands here on a cloud of celestial light. She is tall and statuesque, her enormous wings tall behind her back, though she soars in the air without moving them. Wearing a golden breastplate over a white robe that ripples with divine power, she is wreathed in holy fire that flickers around her expectantly. Her face glows with divinity, and her eyes are sympathetic pools of light that shine forth a resonant luminosity. Wielding a flaming sword, her duty includes meting out justice when needed. The air fairly trembles with the holy aura she emits.
It is an enchanted statue.
A cen rune is glowing on the base.
A gyfu rune is glowing on the north side.
A peorth rune is glowing on the south side.
An ansuz rune is glowing on the east side.
A ger rune is glowing on the west side.
A feoh rune is glowing on the top.
It is tuned against enemies of the Righteous Principality of New Celest.
It is tuned for members of the Righteous Principality of New Celest.
It is stamped with the mark of Faragan.

Statue: 10 minutes to destroy per, Admin aren't going to step in for that reason. "You can deal with it, have fun wasting half of your play time knocking down stuff that someone put up in 30s."

Flamed paintings: Admin can and do destroy offensive flamed items. Usually a note to your patron or whatever helps with that. Can't "destroy" a flamed painting (can only do that if it was exhibited), so... it would fall under this policy.

Destroying a statue takes 5 minutes, not 10. *cough*

Still 4 minutes and 50 seconds too long. For an unenchanted statue, at least.

That statues don't show who made them is IMO a bug (and I reported it as such). Paintings didn't used to, and I BUGed it, and it got fixed. Seems natural that if I can tell the workmanship on a skirt, I can tell it on a painting or statue!
