For a while now, people have been grinding the forums, outlining their problems of in-game issues. My question to everyone to discuss is, when is enough, enough? How many times has something happened inside of Lusternia and almost immediately been brought here and seen by Admins. We have an awesome envoy system in-game, I know having the forums to see the general ideas of people is great to have, but when things on the forums become a way to bypass the envoy system, when is it enough? Discuss.

While the Envoy system may (or may not) be great, there is only so much they can do each month. There are also small things here and there that won't ever get envoy'd due to there little use (things like the family system). As it is seen, Estarra has posted a few times of what we want them to focus on for a given month. This helps get those small things people like changed into something better.

1) The Envoy system is sometimes slow (especially when a month is "missed," though for completely understandable reasons such as the combat streamlining). One suggestion per guild per month (at most) means that getting to things can take a very long time.
2) A lot of envoys do read the forums and can / do pick up ideas for things that are important for game-balance (and important to the "Player-base-at-large") here.
3) The forum is a good place to post and discuss ideas. That does not mean that an admin is going to pick it up and run with it. It also does not mean that an envoy will pick it up and run with it.
4) The main "bypassing" of the envoy system recently was a number of stuff that snuck into combat streamlining. Stuff posted on the forums rarely does actually bypass the envoy system, actually. Only if the Administration reading it believes that there's a "big picture" issue which should be dealt with sooner rather than later.
So, with all that said, what exactly are you thinking of recently in terms of bypassing the envoy system? The only thing recently that comes to mind is the illusions thing.

Personally, I feel that the envoy system should be extended to maybe two suggestions per guild per month. This would help accelerate us towards that all-important "balance" and it would allow a bit more leeway in fixing the "smaller" issues as stated by Xenthos. However, I have never been an Envoy, nor have I dealt with the admin on a personal or game mechanic related level, so I cannot say how viable this actually is.
However, one thing I WOULD like to see is less bitching about everything by everyone on the forums. Seriously, it gets tiring. Shut up for once. And no, I'm not claiming that I've never bitched on the forums. I'm just as guilty as all of you.

Or when it's something that the majority of the pbase is aware of, but no one upstairs knew, and is instantly deemed a bug and changed. Ex: tesseracting to aetherbubbles from the Havens.

You can't double something without doubling the resources. Where will the time for the Furies and coders come from to do twice as much?
Shiri2010-01-21 07:30:30
It's already slightly worrying that we're gonna be adding a pile of new guilds to envoy.

Actually, Kante, Lendren has been an envoy.
And if it helps - we don't have the resources for double envoy duties, I'm fairly sure (though that's simply an observation).

I wasn't implying that Lendren was never an envoy. I was quoting my above post where I said I was never an Envoy, thus providing a reason for my ignorance in this instance.

Oh! Well then. Ahem. Sorry.

You've been in Georgia for too long. It's starting to effect your thinking. Either that, or it's due to it being 7 am.
Eventru2010-01-24 11:58:00
Both.
