Dingbats selling system like there is for credits. Possibly including trading credits for dingbats, and vice versa. So, not a simple idea... but an idea.

Once more I ask, randomize or at least change the spawn points for the gnomes. It's rather unfair that people can learn them sad.gif

I wonder if it isn't already "random" in the same way that wandering denizens move "randomly" yet always seem to clump in the northeast of any given region (and frequently more specific spots, depending on the map layout -- such that addition of new rooms sometimes abruptly changes the spot you find them that's been consistent for game-decades).

Gnomes are random, trust me.

We have to update the script every year for new areas.

Is HL used for anything? If not, make it shorthand for HERMITLIST.

As somebody who gets a 'lot' of gnomes--

It's definitely random. Now, random doesn't mean, "not guessable." I have a list of areas that I visit (most of which are large, wide-open spaces that can be squinted around), which usually nets me a gnome or two. Are they in the exact same rooms? Not usually. Is there usually at least one in the first three areas I clear? Yes. It's not that we have it down to three rooms... It's that we have it down to three areas. Which is usually good enough.

Also, most of us use at least a few of the same areas biggrin.gif. I keep finding traces of Talan everywhere I look...

That's cold comfort to the majority of us who don't know the secrets, and haven't seen even a single gnome, despite being around for hours and hours and hours.

(I think the frequency of drops also seems to favor those times when some people are more often around than others, but that's a whole other matter -- the same one as the "good parts of events always happen at the same times, and if your schedule doesn't fit those times, you will never get to be in those parts of an event".)

What do you mean secrets? What Romertian described was pretty much the definition of random. He has his favorite areas, but that doesn't mean they are the only areas...I think every prime area, other than the UV, can have gnomes in it. I have my favorite places I like to hit, but it has nothing to do with probability.

That being said, the schedule does seem to favor those that can play during the typical east coast work day. Gnomes only dropped once after 5 last night (could have been because of the event, though, we'll probably see more drops tonight).

UV has gnomes too!

Can there be a limit as to how many presents you can receive from gnomes a RL day?

I think you might just have bad luck. I don't know a single secret and I can always get a few gnomes each year.

Max I've ever gotten is one in a year. But the chase is fun!

I think scheduling is the bigger factor for me, the same stuff that ensures I have never yet seen the ending of a big event. But I don't really need to see gnomes; if I got a present, I would give it to one of a few people I know who also never see any, for similar reasons. I just think there are still unfairnesses that are being brushed off.

When viewing COMMUNE CONSTRUCTS, we see what each (defined) construct does, and its status (whether or not it is built). Would it be possible to list also the location of the construct? Nexus or specific bubble would be so lovely.

Can we pleeeeeease have some method of harvesting more than 1 facet at a time?

Oh yes. Yes yes yes yes.

Oh yes. Yes yes yes yes.

I take it you've had to harvest thousands at once and utterly despise having to stand there for about an hour doing nothing else?
Unknown2010-12-25 10:27:59
Well, I did say yes five times, right? happy.gif

Edit: Well, I did use that time to do stuff like studying and writing and admin work, but still...
Aerotan2010-12-26 05:17:35
Screw you both, I once harvested 7000 facets in a single go. >.>

Idea:

ARTIFACT <#> SELL TO FOR <#> GOLD|CREDITS|DINGBATS

With the same checks in place as for CREDIT SELL (ie: other person must be online unless you specify 0 g/cr/db) The exception being that you must do it again to CONFIRM it, just like trading in an artifact. Because just because _I_ don't have a use for a dagger of Reincarnation, doesn't mean I don't know of someone who might.
