A few things I'd have loved to see for a while:
SMALL TABLES being able to hold 2-3 objects, and these objects will show when you look at them or in the room e.g.
A midnight black rose is here, resting on an antique round table.
A ceramic teapot and two pink tea cups are here, resting on a crystal table.
(or even extend this to large tables and allow those to hold twice the number of objects. And desks!)
DISPLAY CASES for people to put stuff in and close and lock, and you can see what's inside when probed. Maybe a variant of chests/cabinets?
A way to set a 'STAY' flag on artifacts, so that if you want to leave them in your manse or somewhere safe, they won't always return to your inventory. e.g.
ARTIFACT ID FLAG STAY
drop artifact/put artifact in whatever
If they're moved out of the room they were flagged in, they will reset. I want to put my Cririk doll and fickle finger in my manse instead of always carrying them around. Perhaps in that shiny new display case

Has been proposed officially and shot down officially three separate times I know of, despite very strong player support for the idea.

=( What was the reason for the shooting down?

Report #430 Skillset: Artisan Skill: New
Guild: Spiritsingers Status: Rejected Aug 2010
Problem: People would like to be able to display paintings, keepsakes, contest winners, and unique items in their guildhalls, manses, and other locations, but without them cluttering up those locations or being easily stolen. One way they do this is by cluttering up shops with items sold at 999999gp. There's no other way because anything that's viewable is stealable, except for flame sigiling them, which is cluttery and prevents even the owner from accessing the item.
Solution #1: A new skill in Artisan called Displaycases is created, around the same place as Cabinets. Displaycases are similar to Cabinets, but they do NOT preserve their contents. They take 300+ commodities (and must include some kind of glass or crystal), and have a lifespan similar to cabinets, and they use up wall space, not floor space like cabinets. A display case can hold up to ten items and can be locked. When you PROBE a display case, you see the list of items inside it the same way you would if you probed a cabinet, only you see it even if the case is closed. You can also use a syntax similar to LOOK AT SHOES ON ESTARRA to examine them individually, even when the case is closed.
Solution #2: If it is felt that these cases need an additional "practical" use (a concern that Estarra raised on the forums once), add to the above (Solution 1) the ability to show when a shrouded person enters or leaves the room where the display case is mounted, similar to how a chandelier shows dreamweavers enter or leave. The message might read something like, "You catch a glimpse of Estarra reflected in the glass of a weathered display case as She leaves to the east."
Solution #3: As per Solution #2, but increase the commodity cost to 400 to reflect the additional functionality.
Player Comments:
---:
Solution 1 sounds like plenty of functionality to me, but 2 or 3 can't hurt
---:
Go for it. Solution 1 is sound, but 2/3 is a clever thought as well.
---:
Solution 1 sounds great. Solution 2 seems to be stretching a bit in terms of theme in my opinion, but if there's an absolute need for a "practical" use, that wouldn't be bad.
Furies' Decision:
We do not find this to be necessary.

That just goes to reinforce the idea that envoy reports can only be used for combat related changes.

I'm pretty sure Xiel has used an envoy report to put the cartel marks on things.
(Speaking of envoy reports, I need an idea for this month. People give me ideas. )

I have several, but you haven't been on irc as of late.
Plug: More people need to visit the Lusternia irc. I remember having quite a few people, including Furien, Shuyin, Xenthos, and others in the irc. Now the only regulars are Casi, me, Ayisdra, Phoebus, Calixa, Relk, and Phantasm. And sometimes Iasmos every now and then.

IRC? *logs in* *is completely empty...* Hmm..

The cartel marks wasn't an envoy report from me, but they're dandy. Some trade things have been changed through the envoy process though, like poison distributions and jewelry boxes were introduced. Other things though, like new artisan display boxes and enchantment robe tempering weren't accepted, so it's really more a toss up rather than an outright shutting out of trade things. Since most envoys are combatants, combat issues are raised more often than utility or trade issues.
And if you're lacking an idea, what about adding in a power option for the Beastmastery Block ability. Much like how Athletics has a power option to 100% block a direction without taking size into account, give this possibility to Beastmastery (since people can block using a 2000 pound wyvern and people would still dodge it cause the rider is a teeny tiny faeling).

You already can do this. Same syntax - BLOCK (direction) FIRM. 1p.

Well then, since that's conveniently handled, I shall throw more general things at Casilu as per my wishlist.
How about...hrm, they're all pretty much class specific save for one or two trade ideas, and I haven't even fleshed those out yet. Unless people have an idea of how to make Lorecraft Invisibility or Tinkering Revelations suck less anyway. -ponder-
Edit: Oh, oh - or how about making the other armour types (scale, chain, leather) more attractive for use?! I'd offer more speed for less protection, but thinking of monks with even more speed worries me. D:
Edit Edit: Zomg, another idea! Since pestering people for forging runes is a pain, why not make a new skill that forgers can like, scribe a forging rune onto then regular people can buy it, rub it onto whatever they use and it'll get used up?! More everyday things that forgers can sell rather than the occasional requests for armour and weapons?! Then, if you get the scale, chain and leather armour issues handled, non-forgers who buy those armour can buy the rune boost for themselves! -continues throwing more ideas-
Casilu2011-01-03 09:24:55
But leather is already highly used in the Mudsecks community for bondage gear. Someone once bought like... a dozen sets to sell in a shop for that reason. (They also wanted whips, but I can't make those. Hrm...)

Have REFILL check for items that are empty first, before giving up and declaring that the item must be emptied (just because it's the first found).
