Temporary docks do collapse and kill you eventually. That happened to Meir.

EDIT: Oh, you were making a statement of fact. Sorry.

Yup, the certainly used to, I know that for sure. biggrin.gif

I've never seen actual crows in Prime Glomdoring (not beasts). Please make crow mobs! And peacock mobs in the nature reserve, please!

Make rad subject to the same restrictions as Beckon.

Interestingly, there is currently an envoy report up dealing with rad, and this is one of the proposed solutions. Try to check that things aren't being dealt with through the proper channels next time, please.

Every time I try and see the reports, I'm almost never able. I eventually quit bothering and just hoped the envoys were doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Have same-bin, same-item type items in a shop "group" together. So everything with the noun "shoes" would be listed together, everything with the noun "robes", etc.

You just have to check near the end of the month when almost all of the envoy reports are finalised and visible to everyone.

You should be able to apply Lorecraft scents to other people.

Maybe as an option (like WARES SHORT) or something, but seems like a really bad idea as a default.

Oh, I don't mean they'd all be listed on one line. I mean like:

backpack12345 a blue backpack
backpack2345 a red leather backpack
backpack1982 a furry pink backpack shaped like Lendren

etc., regardless of the order in which they were dropped in the stockroom.
Lendren2010-02-27 16:26:39
Oh, I see! Well, that's a lot better. Probably would be processor-intensive though given how many things are in shops.

Viynain's idea of having more bins is probably a much simpler solution from both sides. I heartily support it.

Shops hold what, 250 different items? Running a sort on the type of something shouldn't be bad, except maybe when you implemented it at first and processed all the shops, and you might even be able to download the lists off the server, run it on another box, and reupload. After that whenever you dropped something you'd simply have to run an insert on the sorted item list.

Granted, I have absolutely no clue how it's actually implemented, so that could be totally wrong.

No, most of them hold far, far, far more than that. Shops over a thousand are quite common. One of mine has more than 3,000, not including the rift.

(You're also not accounting for the fact that each item has multiple nouns, and it gets even messier from there.)
Ssaliss2010-02-27 22:53:33
Multiple nouns are easilly taken care of: Sort them by the shortname (i.e. shortsword12345 would come after broadsword23456).
Riluna2010-02-28 01:17:22
Something to make those nearly drained powerstones less useless would be fabulous. For example, say I have a powerstone that shows up as 1% left. Most of the stuff I need to make as an Alchemist/Lorecrafter requires at least 2% (Except just perfumes, I think, they're 1% but even then sometimes a powerstone reads 0% without decaying. Ugh.) Anyway, my idea is this: make it so that you can hold two powerstones, the 1% in one hand, and for the sake of example a full one in the other. The power needed comes from the nearly empty one first, and takes the remaining power needed from the fresh stone (or from reserves, if you're not holding a second) when the first one decays.
Sylphas2010-02-28 01:52:38
And have more designs with powerstones as comms, so when they're empty you don't just have to toss them in a nexus.

That's not the multiple nouns I mean. Your shortsword is also called sword. Your vial is also called amethyst. Some things have a half-dozen nouns or more. When you get down to it, from the point of view of coding it, "all shoes" is not really a precisely defined thing, especially when you consider all the non-tradeskill things that people sell in shops; and when you try to define it precisely, this problem takes one of several steps towards becoming impractical. And there are other issues that are waiting behind that one, which you'd be even less likely to believe.

But no one's ever going to believe me about this, no one ever believes things are harder to code than a superficial consideration suggests, so let's drop that. A better reason is this: a better hard-coded way of organizing your stuff is never going to be as good as a more flexible way for you to organize it as you see fit. Give us all 50 bins and you can group your stuff by shoes versus pants if you want, or by formals versus informals, or by high cost versus low cost, or by anything you please. More bins is better. That it's also a lot easier to code and less processor-intensive doesn't even have to enter into it save as an extra bonus if you happen to believe me.
