That seems useful, although I'm more concerned with how people see my description (or, in a larger sense, how everyone sees everyone else's) than how I read others'.
Ssaliss2010-04-08 19:51:49
Personally, I like the descs and clothing the way they are. I wouldn't like a blank line in between, and I'm sure many others agree as well, meaning it'd be a configurable option. And that package for Mush seems to do exactly what the config would do, so why not use it? Or were you planning on forcing everyone to have a blank space between desc and clothing?
EDIT: Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh, trying to kick my caffeine addiction. But the point is valid.

I thought it was just going to be separate paragraphs, like how inventory is.
Speaking of inventory, I wish my inventory could be in columns the way IR is. I wrote some triggers in zMUD that do it, but they are too painfully slow to use.
QUOTE
She is a graceful wild elfen changeling demigoddess and has a distant expression and posture, perhaps because of the locks of dark hair that insist on falling in front of her midnight eyes, hidden behind narrow-rimmed spectacles, and almost concealing her pointed ears. Her face is a mix of merriment and loveliness, strikingly set off by a loboshigaru nose that seems at once out of place and perfectly at home amongst her chocolate-brown-skinned elfen features. Her hair is a lustrous black, falling in glossy waves over her shoulders and shifting with every movement. Her shapely and curvaceous figure is set off by a vivid white scar, made more noticeable because of her chocolate-brown skin, near her shoulder: four vertical lines, with a half-circle surrounding one end. Folded against her back are a pair of rainbow wings one would expect to see on a faeling, though scaled to her larger elfen body.
She is wearing:
a rainbow kaleidoscope monocle, a translucent crystal bindi, a pair of Winged Sandals of Haste, a parafilament purse, a bright red button, musician's fingerless gloves swirling with rainbow hues, a pair of iridescent round spectacles, a pair of faerie wings, soft-soled theater boots, a circlet wreath of many-hued freesias, a twisted bloodstone ring, an inky-black loboshigaru nose, a falling star crystalline watch, a brilliant white rose, an entrancing red rose, a serene pearl ring, a bare-midriffed robes ensemble of twilight blues, a resplendent rainbow coat of flowing, wrap-around silk, a richly embroidered golden silk cloak, a bright yellow rose, an ever-shifting theatrical half-mask.

I guess we all imagined different things. I wasn't even imagining a "she is wearing" or a blank line. I was just imagining a line break, as if you had pushed enter to start a new paragraph

I like the paragraph form much better, personally. Don't break it up on me, please.
Two things:
1.) Mashed-together text is considered aggravating and less readable than information that's broken up into paragraphs. Paragraphs are self-contained units of text that break information down into easily digestible chunks. This is seen not only in books, magazines, newspapers and forum posts, but the same principle also applies to telephone numbers, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, and so on and so forth. In other words, breaking up information into chunks is fundamental to the way human beings think. Moreover, the character description is very distinct from the worn item list, so it makes sense to separate them — if nothing else, that would make it easier to see where the description ends and the item list begins at a glance, rather than having to hunt for the division.
Therefore, no, I had not the slightest inkling that some people prefer descriptions and worn item lists mashed into one large chunk of text. I considered it a flaw with no redeeming qualities. Also, Zarquan, I think calling the current mashed-up form a "paragraph form" is a bit of a stretch, since they usually end up being extremely long, and contain two very distinct categories (and formats) of information.
2.) Force you? That's going a bit overboard, isn't it? Placing a line break between the character description and the worn item list will not reduce the practical readability of LOOT AT descriptions for you, even if your personal preference is mashed-up text. However, for many other people (as evidenced by point 1 above), the practical readability is reduced by mashed-up text. I would also like to note that quite a few people thus far have agreed with me cheerfully, while only you two have had a negative reaction.
---------------------
I would ask: What justification can you offer for your preference, other than that you prefer it? Also, I would have no problem with a toggle-able option for a description/item list line break.
Finally, you'll note that this post is broken up into easily digestible chunks. Should I have run the text together into one large mash-up, here or on any other forum, people would not only be less likely to read it, but would also probably comment that I should learn to use paragraphs and line breaks. Case in point.

Oh, I won't mind having two properly formatted paragraphs. I just don't want any "He is wearing:" lines, followed by either a pseudo-paragraph or a line list of individual items.

I'm not really an undervault quest expert, so this may already exist...
But it would be neat if there were some record (a stone slab inscribed with names, or some such thing) of the people who have completed the epic quest cycle down there that anyone can go read. I know there are special mob responses already and some kind of buff when the right side is completed, but it seems fitting that the names be recorded somewhere for posterity's sake... as far as I know, these quests are not acknowledged in the news the way that the city/commune ones are.
And from what I can tell, getting all those lines is a longer process than any of the org quests.

It does take longer, but the main problem with em really is that in order to get two of the four honours, someone has to do the full effort on the other side first.

Forren, Nejii, Me, Solanis for keph. Kaervas and Fillin are the only Dark Reapers I know of.
EDIT: Forget waiting for somebody else to do the other side, you need to score the killing blow on a super mob to get one of the lines. When Solanis finally got his it was his fourth attempt, and we just had him be the only person hitting him. <,<

And campfires for that matter. Even Aetolia has that. (I remember once saving a city-versus-city wargames by starting a campfire and baking cookies in the middle of the fighting... really; we'd been battered with hunger attacks and used up all our food!)

Is it not possible to put a separate ten-second timer on custom emotes (EMOTE ), rather than having them utilize eq? I assume eq is used so that people can't utilize them as "combat chaff" (i.e. spam) or something like that.
There is a really long and fantastic selection of emotes in Lusternia, but I notice most people don't use custom emotes very often at all, and I get the feeling it's because of the eq cost. I know that's the case for me. When hunting with a friend or following someone, and probably in a few other very common situations, it's just iffy to use them.
I mean, you can SAY three things in rapid succession, then you're made to wait a few seconds. Why not something similar with custom emotes?
