In the same vein, Icewalls.
There is no reason I shouldn't be able to breathe fire onto an icewall. NONE!

Didn't Achaea's xoran do both of those things?
Saran2010-06-17 07:22:24
i get that it would make sense and all, but the closer you get to being a tinderbox/ignite enchantment the more you would have to give up.

Actually, the icewall makes more sense even than the pipes.

Plus icewalls are magical ice, which makes them immune to dracnari fire.
Lendren2010-06-17 12:24:45
Am I the only one who thinks that a blast of fire that might not even kill a big rat probably won't instantaneously melt a wall of ice so big and thick that a charging igasho takes multiple hits to crack it?
That said, I have often said it'd be cool to give each race a simple utility power. Aslaran, for instance, should have a long-balance-recovery cleanse they get when they GROOM, which takes too long to be useful against sap or ectoplasm in combat, but is nice for flavor after fighting gorgogs. Not needing a tinderbox seems a good one for dracnari.

Trill should get air stability at level 50/75. Getting blown about is really annoying.
Unknown2010-06-17 14:23:00
And Taurians should get the BELLOW ability at level 75. Smaller races get fear (with a symptom message for all to see, something like "Person cowers in fear, whimpering."), larger races get enraged (only +1 to STR, same side effects, "Maddened by the roar, Person starts lashing out at everyone in blind rage."). Requires you to declare.

I find that unlikey
And to point it ou,t the fire may not be able to kill a rat in one hit, but it also can wreathe an ENTIRE sire 25 demigod in enough flame to cause said Demigod to begin combusting themselves.

This is really going beyond simple ideas... prolly time to move to a new thread.

Faelings should get hover (levitation equivalent).

Notice how many of these have combat implications? That's why we never get the racial-roleplay flavor ones; people immediately start with ones with combat implications, and the whole idea gets buried. (That's why the aslaran idea I posted isn't the "always lands on their feet" one that mostly matches Acrobatics Balancing.)
Ileein2010-06-17 18:00:37
Aww. Air stability has barely any combat implications. Who fights in the sky, anyway? But more to the point, yeah, if we're going to discuss this there ought to be a thread just for it.

1) Cleanse enchantment equivalent (slightly worse)
2) Levitation enchantment equivalent
3) Brooch of the Tempest equivalent
In general they seem to be mostly along the same lines; minor effects that you can get other ways, but would give the race some unique flavour. AoE fear is a bit beyond that though.
Arath2010-06-17 22:35:55
How about a racial communication line? City and guild is all well and good, but they're often very deeply tied in a reflection on your character. With a "racetell" you'd more easily inspire loyalty towards race, and not just organization, which could make for interesting dilemma when racial wants go against organizational wants.
Aerotan2010-06-18 04:52:52
Personally, I think even RWHO is a bit much for a game based so heavily on city-level loyalties.
Xiel2010-06-18 05:23:35
Would it be possible to make it so that when you stock an item in a bin in a stockroom, those things would go into that bin so that it doesn't clutter up a stockroom floor? Entering stockrooms with a ton of things on sale gets spammy, and if people can just get thing from bin # when they wanna take something out, it'd cut down on the excess, I'd think.
Razenth2010-06-18 06:15:31
Vermilla actually lagged out of her stockroom once.
Xiel2010-06-18 06:30:29
Power to stockroom organization!
