Only if the Sentinels/Institute get a command ala gemblock/fleshblock for ageing. Because if you make is require an AGREE than someone can just make an alt, age everyone that wants aged, quit guild and never play the alt again, just like someone could strip all the gems/flesh and then shove it in a nexus without gemblock/fleshblock.
But... the aging stuff isn't a limited resource, last I looked... unless I'm missing something. I don't see the connection between them. I mean, it uses 10 power per, but really... that kind of obvious alt abuse would be fairly easy to spot.
Aloysha2010-10-04 04:05:18
It's no so much that it's a limited resource, but that you can't remove it ever even if the person (outside of alt abuse) would never ever be able to get a aeonicer to age them. If it cannot be reasonably stripped from someone who doesn't want to give it up, the number of people who can give it out should be limited for the same reason that guild honors can't be given out by undersecs.

Does it really matter that much? OH NO YOU CAN ADOPT SOMEONE SLIGHTLY OLDER!

We already have WHATCURES and WHATISCUREDBY...
It'd be nice to have a WHATSTOPS or WHATSTOPSCURING.

Psh. That'd make curing far too easy!

Getting basic information like that should not be the hassle that it is, since it is required information to even begin making a simple curing system.
It's not like asking for WHATISTHETRIGGERLINEFORECTOPLASM... there's still a lot of hunting and gathering involved, but basic curing mechanics should not have to be gathered to the level they are here.
In Achaea, it's easy because slickness stops applying, asthma stops smoking, etc. In Lusternia, there are so many exceptions and exceptions to exceptions that even creating a basic framework gets to be less about absolute accuracy and more about throwing darts in the dark and hoping you hit your mark.

Some would say that half the "joy" of making a combat system is sparring to learn the effects and interdependencies of all these defenses, afflictions, and abilities.
I was being half sarcastic, too, so don't take it too personally.

Yeah, I like finding them, but what I would like more is validating them... what I hate is that nagging voice in the back of my head saying, "What if you missed something?"
I know it's inevitable to miss a few things here and there, but it'd be nice to have some way to, I guess, check your work.

I didn't take it personally at all, sorry if I sounded offended, just realized that I probably could have better clarified the "why" of my initial post.

Then don't use it. No one ever forces you to use the alternatives given.

You're mistaking my sentiments on this.
If I had the tool, you can be sure I'd use it to the full extent that I could. However, this tool takes most of the fun guesswork out of fighting to improve. The top tier fighters are the ones who constantly throw themselves into the fray, make a few mistakes, fix things up, and don't make the same mistakes again the next time. It's something that is earned more than handed to you, but that's just my whimsical opinion.
And, I wish we could go back to the days of only 150 afflictions, where you didn't have six things preventing you from eating an herb...

But you don't NEED to use the tool. If you prefer the "fun guesswork", then do it through the "fun guesswork" way.
Unknown2010-10-06 19:00:59
I want everyone to have to use the same "fun guesswork" path, of course. We have plenty of shortcuts already, and there are a lot of sources of information out there. You don't even have to do the guesswork yourself, if you can befriend others who have already done it and borrow from them. In the end, it's the same result, yeah.
Again, I am not really against the idea, per se. Just playing devil's advocate.

Gleip2010-10-06 19:10:56
That's not playing the devil's advocate. It is pure selfishness. It is one thing to want to do things a specific way yourself, but demanding others to do it in an objectively sub-par manner adds absolutely nothing. This kind of attitude prevents a lot of good and useful stuff to enter the game.

A way for guardians/wiccans/druids/mages to take down shields on denizens unless they already have that.

Void in High Magic and the equivalent skill in Low Magic drops shields.
Edit: Nullify in Low Magic

It's not so selfish as you think. It's simply against a game that holds your hand on every little thing you do.
Vorld, it's INVOKE NULLIFY or EVOKE VOID.

Actually, the only reason we don't have those trigger lines on the Wiki is lack of anyone volunteering to put the information they have up there. If someone were willing to do the heavy lifting of gathering and editing the information, I'd be able to get some admin help in answering questions and clarifying things for those pages (provided your questions aren't of the sort, "what are all the affliction lines for everything" -- more like, "is there a second form for the line for this particular affliction" -- my admin contacts don't have the time to do the page either, after all, just to help a bit if someone does).
Rika2010-10-06 21:06:54
I reckon a compelling reason to at least clarify these things is that if we knew exactly how these mechanics work, then if they don't work like that, we know to bug them. Right now, there are so many things which are in the uncertain category. We don't know whether things are features or bugs, which also affects the envoy balancing system. If we had access to all this information, we could make these decisions a lot easier.

Eh, I'm kinda with Iasmos on this. Sometimes, I get the feeling like things are getting more and more dumbed down and handed to everyone, including me.
